Hey there! Hope everyone had a nice holiday. Mine was crazy, so I'm taking a few days off before I go back to the office....the result so far: paintings!
Here is a link that shows a little bit of the process I go through for these...very random, disorderly and ADD....yeah - it can get a little nuts.
The tiger is so yummy. All three are great, do you use painter?
I like all these very much, my crit would be the left shoulder and back on the first one extends too far away from the spine.
Wow man, those are your best yet, imho.
YOu're a big inspiration D... Keep rockin'
that second one is fun, and I really liked the progress shots on the third one. I kinda liked the impact of some of the older version of it, but you definitely improved the piece with every step. I'd say the first first one doesn't have as much draftsmanship power as the other two, but they're all nice regardless. Well done!

holy hell... "a few days off"!!! it would take me more than a week to just do one of those and it would still look like poo.
- I think it's official... I am the world's slowest painter
love them all man, great work
horse . cow .. what ever /...... you are really goood i love you work all of you work ... you are one verryyy nice inspiration ....Just keep drawing ok :
That second one is my favorite. The character seems so cool to me, makes me want to know more about him. nice one!
Stunning on all of them. Well done.
Sheesh, makes me wish the holidays came along more often. These are great! Thanks for the thoughts that went along with your process shots. There's something in the first woman that really makes me want to see some more of that dappled light hitting her face, shoulder and back. It looks great on her thigh area, but some intensity in her upper body would really give her some punch, even if the painting overall is atmospheric.
Great post as usual!
that 3rd one is so beautiful, i love it
Very strong work bro! lovin' the soldier, nice pose and contrast.
The dreamer is such a good mix of ideas.
I look forward to seeing your work man. never disappoint. The process was very informative and thanks for the insight. I really love when people are not afraid to share what they know. Very cool.

<mildly sarcastic remark that seems a little cutting at first read, but contains wisdom and is really rather funny>

Gotta love a steamy dump. Especially when it's chock full o' talent. I have no complaints, not a one! And the walk-through is helpful too. Awesome.
Great and still improving. Every batch gets better.
Thanks for all the replies and comments!
j a k e; Yep, Painter and Photoshop. Mainly PS.
jason_maranto; Thanks for the crit - much appreciated!
theincredibleandy; thanks! Always a challenge I guess trying to keep the energy of those first brushstrokes alive.
Mike Dutton; Thanks Mike - actually she's supposed to have some sort of white war paint on her skin - I guess it kinda looks like dappled lighting. Crap.
MikeCorriero; Hey Mike - just some minor ref used for the first image; for the girls pose I took a 30 second scribble from a life drawing session and started painting over top of that. For the Tiger, I painted it as far as I could, then dug out my book on Tigers to help me fill in the gaps. I tend to forget little things like the color of their noses, or the placement of their ears. As for your question on faces, I never get so frustrated I want to quit, but I do run into problems occasionally and over-noodle things. Usually this is because I can't decide on the right gesture for the head....is it tilted correctly, should the mouth be open or closed, should they be angry, sad, etc....I often try many variations until something sticks. I don't have much trouble painting those things, it's more coming up with the idea that can frustrate me. If I find I'm spinning my wheels, I just move onto a different part of the picture and try not to force a solution.
...[save in Mandryk folder]...
thanks for the process dude. Highly inspiring. I liked the junk in step 3 btw. Since it's not commissioned work I think you shouldn't be afraid and try and go crazy just to see what happens.
The second guy looks like a Marko-Vs-Aleksi-Captain Harlock design, I love him.
wow! I'm new to this site and this is the kind of work that inspires me to paint.
Just amazing work.
personally i love the second one the most.... It has the greatest impact of all the paintings and the way you handled the wamr and cool colors together... It seems like they are having a war to take control of the image.. The way you handled the blade is really dope too... you always make me smile with your posts too bad they come to seldom... Thanks for sharing
Mainloop- man i must be dyslexic.. cuz i thought you asked how many people are on lsd
Also saving in "Mandryk folder"
Man, whenever I see a thread started in the FF section by you I get all tingly..
You never fail to amaze me when I click it..
You're one of the artists I look forward to the most when you have something new to show.
Thank you so much for the instant inspiration... every time !
