Thanks 28chelseaslater, we have similiar subject matter. You've got some cool stuff in your book. That pic that you pointed out is one of my favs that I've done recently as well. I find that if I'm in the right mind frame and listening to the right tunes I can do a drawing like that in 10 mins and like it much more than something that I spent 3 hrs on.
Cheers, Zoroko. Stoked you dig them!
I feel like I'm starting to progress because I've been drawing a lot more lately. It's starting to feel natural again and I don't have to try so hard. Still have to come up with ideas that I could turn into finished projects.
This is one of my fav pages of late
this is how it feels when you live with someone while you argue. Also a flamingo
Your inking is pretty fresh man. Clean, straight, readable. Good thing in here. I think you should take a look at Squidmonk3j's SB. He does some amazing inking illos that I think you could appreciate. Good style man..will be watching
markey2d, thanks, cool that you dig my stuff. There are tons of 'urban' artists out there, just not lots on ca. I gradually started to shift my subject matter into that area. Scifi/Fantasy stuff started to not interest me as much and real people and the things I'm around did. Also I think listening to music while I work really effects the final outcome. I like the idea of letting the music help shape the lines and curves of the drawing.
this stuff is ausome! very stylish and the colors, i'm really diggin the colors and the textures you're using. Though that wood grain on some of the b/w ones could be left out. it looks a little off having the light yellow on white, but over the black of the characters it looks great. Maybe like a contained texture only on black... i dunno
Digging your stylizations, you have a great handle on it and your are making it work for you! Just make sure you don't get caught up in it - hectic stylization is fun and useful but be sure not to limit yourself to it. That said, the level skill visible in these pieces suggest that you don't need to worry about much.
Wow great work. Ur style is so cool. U thought of graffi, airbrush etc?
I like ur characters. And the Girls with the fat outlines are looking very sexy and show that you have anatonomy & perspective skills too.
Unscarred by trials...a new level...

You've got sick style. I digs it. Love post #103 robot warrior concept, the giraffe, and the snoop caricatures. And you don't even like him...do you like the Wu-Tang? You should do some Wu-Tang charicatures like Meth, ODB, GZA, and send it to em'. You could design a friggin' cd inlay for them.
love your style, your clearly real confident working within it, its shows. the slightly more figurative ones also work really well, be careful not to block that aspect out, style at the expense of substance. not that thats happening at the mo, its all sick stuff.
What the heiiillll? I didn't get any email notifications about these replys... ah well. poooop
ped454 - Thanks, I'll try and get even more top notch!
Brendan - I know what you're saying. I've always had to try and balance style with substance. When I start focusing on just substance I get really tense and stressed out with my work, which ends up with me doing less work. So I often just switch between the two (sometimes drawing after drawing, sometimes between days) and I'm finding they're both helping the other and starting to mesh together. I have a real problem deciding what I really want to do with my art but it's starting to find itself lately. phew
asoir - thanks for checking back! My usual method of starting a drawing is working out the angles with a 2h pencil. Squaring things off and rounding them out later on works great for me. Recently I've been trying to just go right to ink and let things work themselves out. This doesn't always work but when it does I get super stoked on that method.
laFlo - Thanks meng! I'm not interested in airbrush(prob just cause I don't really dig the girl/dragon pics that they always have on airbrush magazines) but I want to get into using spray cans. No room or yard at my place right now but I'd love to get my hands dirty with that stuff and other traditional medias. I've stuck to pencil and ink for too long!
FactorZero - thnks!
28chelseaslater - glad you checked back... my main inspiration for tunes has always been hip hop, soul, funk, electronic, etc. Something I can nod my head to. My fave for drawing right now is DJ Vadim's new album, The Sound Catcher. For just having fun I love Chromeo's new one!
PirahnaClan - Love the Wu! Of course the older stuff is better but they still put out tunes I dig. And I do like Snoop's first two albums... don't know why he had to change. It would be nutsss to do a cover for them. I'd shiot myself. Thanks for checking out my scribbles.
wookiedabo - yeah, totally man. I'm working on making sure the substance gets better. Thanks!
Thanks a crap load for all the comments and crits! It encourages me to do better work! I'll have some new stuff very soon...
