Welcome. I like your loose doodles. The face at different angles seems to be your weakness, so you may want to work on that. Keep up the drawing!

Heya Fishspawn
![]() Thanks for the kind words and crits , Im looking forward to getting into some practice doing faces. At the moment im still baby stepping with the body side of things (and im all ready overwhelmed hehe) ...................... arrrgh 5 hours of drawing in the city with Bumskee and Knoxie and I came up wth one ok drawin ... I guess it serves me right i wasn't really concetrating to hard today .. kinda mindless drawing for the sake if it and chatting too much.. not good. |

I'm impressed on how consistant you are on keeping to your sketchbook. It took me awhile to finally start posting in it on a semi-regular basis.
Right now I think your loose studies are your strongest work. They show a lot of character and it's easy to understand what's going on. It's also a good thing that you're doing these loose pieces, a lot of people get stuck trying to render as tightly as possible and it usually hinders the line quality as well as how much motion is shown. I think right now you spend some time working on some longer studies, as well as shading and facial propotions. Start working on how the features differ from person to person, as well as placement. Once again I commend you on your posting. It's nice to see that the majority of your posts so far are art related...I'm guilty of being a lounge rat at times.

Heya HugeHArHAr,

Heya Bumskee, Thanks for droppin by , I always appreciate your advice , yeah im doing alot of figure work at the moment , been also doing the loomis manikin / simplified muscle dude. --------------------------------- Arrrgh!! Im having a lot of issues visualising poses etc , these thumbnails are distilled from quite a few hours of drawing. No ref :/ grrrr looks like a bumpy road ahead ![]() lets see how I fair tomorrow.. Not much done today cuz I got me another tablet and I been messing with it a bit.I also picked me up a copy of Bridgman's "complete guide to drawing from life"
..tested out photoshop elements by sketching from it for an hour or so and as you can see it still seems my drawing from imagination is wak. Well , well tomorrow is another day ![]() |

Torso studies today..more tomorrow
Bridgman and Hogarth references I now understand what Bumskee was tellin me about Bridgman He's is awesome , wierd and hard to study from if your noob like me ![]() Man he does a hell of a lot with a few lines, very gestural when compared to the roboty / collossus (from xmen) style of Hogarth. |

I learned a bunch about lower torso and leg anatomy whilst working on this study.
Basically I knocked up a outline then tried to place the muscles without references. I then spent ages correcting and learning the muscles using indirect references. Its ugly as sin though and hardly anatomically correct but it seems like a learning good method for me... we'll see... Last edited by Jim Kalogiratos; September 16th, 2006 at 08:02 AM.. |

Dont worry min I haven't given up on the mightly pen
I get more gesture out of it anyways this newer stuff has better proportions but its a bit soul-less.Aaaaand Man its a total pain scanning pencil sketches I fiddled with settigs for ever and they still come up looking crap. on a side note drawing today was a dream mate the city was thriving with beauties and the weather was good. __________________________ cuz I like upping images with my posts heres some old concepts y'all (dun for the beast of burden 3d challenge - cgtalk) Last edited by Jim Kalogiratos; September 19th, 2006 at 08:12 AM.. |

Wish I had time for more today.. but I spent the morning drawin wif Koxie in cafes on Akland street St Kilda.
Tackled some faces and cricatures to mixed results.. but some progression none the less. Konxie donated the use of his scanner , by god its sooooo much better with pencil than the ancient thing I was using.. |

Cuz Im lazy I fired up poser 5 and did these sketches from 3d ref poses. Drawing from 3d feels wierd , but I guess its kinda like a real life mannikin .. dunno |
