Some of my concepts from the past year (small update Sept 2006)

Hey everyone

Its been a long time since I posted.

My concept duties at Epic have kept me pretty busy the past couple years. I have a few concepts for both Gears of War and Unreal Tournament that I can post. I thought I would toss them up so you guys wouldnt think me dead.

I look forward to showing more in the future.

and Tournament stuff

Couple more GOW concepts. (update Sept 2006)

Hawkprey, you so crazy. Seriously AWESOME stuff, it makes me smile and want to cry at the same time. And that's not including the overbearing sensation to rip my tounge out and scream as blood cascades from my mouth in all directions, while proceeding to grasp both my arms with my mouth, and tear them loose, flail wildley untill they eject from their sockets, and scream "NOT WORTHY! WORTHY!". OR.... i could just say, you rock! .

Hey thanks guys

Lagster.....you are correct. I build almost everything in 3d first. Its important in my latest designs that they function properly as well as have a cool design. WHen I do build this stuff I will also do rough animations etc to make sure the design will work in-game. Hopefully it saves the hi-poly guys a little time because they have a rough model to get started with. It takes a little longer on my end (about a week on each design) but it saves time for the modellers.

Hey here is a cool link

phenomenal! Awesome stuff, great inspiration. I can see a bit of difference in these from the last posted work on your website How detailed do you model in the shape before you paint over it?

Hey Nixon

At first my 3d stuff was very basic........over the past year my skills have gotten better and the 3d stuff is getting more complicated. I would say at this point my designs are almost 80% 3d. With modelling I do lose some of the flow and feel that I was able to get with 2d but I am working on that. The 3d translates much faster into usable game art though.

I wish I could post more guys.

Hopefully in the next year or so I can show some of my process and more art. Epic is really good at keeping things hush hush until the proper time. That includes artwork and processes that go into the game making.

It will all get out eventually. ahahhahaah.

That Tripod is fantastic! I hope we get to pilot that beast.
I love the design evolution of the Unreal games. Even after all those titles using the same universe, it hasn't gotten old to look at. The Necris in UC2 were really slick and stylish looking, and the circuit board tattoos were unique and cool. I'm surprised no one has tried that for real.

Say hi to Bucklove for me. heh.
