great amazing art
keep it up
Where are all the updates? *cry*
Last batch is awesome though. When I got to your oozy gorgeous beach studies I got a weird feeling in my throat; I guess that's a good thing :3
When you did those landscapes, what reference did you use (if any?) Do you use any ref for those creatures, or can you just pull those right out of that awesome mind of yours? I'm always torn for what references I should be pulling together for the imaginative stuff (generally just using like normal model anatomy studies then filling in the blanks to make them grotesque/creature like, probably not the best approach).
Hope you don't mind the slew of questions, I can't resist trying to pick at that brilliant brain of yours.
Keep doing what you do, mate! You're an inspiration as always.
nice pieces you all got there.
Talked to alien452 today. He is truly an incredible artist!
Ooh, so nice! Your color feeling is excellent!
Really dig your bold environment studies!
Keep rocking, m8!
Amazing work, I love your styles
that was one post and almost 2 full pages of asspats. Thats gotta be a sign that you are doing something right . You have great stuff I wish you could post more. stupid NDAs..... seriously though I doubt the mouse would notice. Hope you are having fun at comiccon.
For Science- Sketchbook!
Love yr work
"Admitting that free man may err, in no way invalidates the importance of his ability to decide for himself."
"laws that forbid the carrying of arms . . . disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes . . . Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."
Ok, good lord god.
Been so long since I've update here. I'm so incredibly lazy/busy; a horrible combination I assure you.
I'm only going to feebly attempt to play catch up, but there is a metric shit ton of stuff I'm not posting that you can catch on my blogs if you are interested:
William b. Hand: Why thank you sir, been enjoying what you've been cooking too.
Lukias: Thank you kindly dude! Much love for your work. If there is anyway I can help you in the digital realm just shout.
GusTheRobot: Thank you sir, it's a great way to spend lunch; I should start doing them again At least I'm not playing tf2 during lunch like I was...
Stark: Hahaha damn dude, sick! Wtf ... oh yeah assignments; wtf happened to that shit? Plasticwank. Chairs.
Extollere: What up gangsta? Hehehe, I usually don't need to use any of photoshops editing tools but yeah, need some more of that traditional goodness. Been taking a portrait painting class in oils lately, loving it. Good advice dooder. See you at Comic Con I hope! (Oh wow, I wrote this reply forever ago ...)
paperX: Thanks dood, did you ever try some timed studies? Soft blended look you are talking about is probably just a result of having both opacity and flow set to pressure and using lots of pressure variation when needed. Manual flow helps out a ton too. Other than that ... airbrushing maybe? I've been playing a little with the smudge tool lately, but honestly haven't found anything that works too well as a blender. Cheers!
seth1: Thanks for the crits dude, very helpful! I can always use more of them
nethus: Yup, photoshop. The brush is one of Jaime Jones, he may have posted them here under the name Cicinimo, if not check cloudnine. Great stuff.
Ead: Thank you kindly. Kanevsky is a badass.
AlexC: Awwwwwww, thanks dude! Glad the tutorials and what not have been helpful, it's really my pleasure!
krossj: Thanks dood! I should do some more zombies!
Burtzum: Thanks dood! All sorts of trickery on these brushes, these days they are mostly brushes from Cicinimo. He maybe have posted them here, otherwise you should check cloudnine. Cheers!
Saskia: Ooooooh girly, I can't tell you enough how much I love your art. It's ridiculously amazing. Thanks for the kind words
archipelago: Thanks hahah! The LMS's were draining but really good for me.
Victor B: Thanks dude! Good to know who that is, Parrish is a pimp! You thinking about doing some 1 hour studies? Puts hair on your chest.
UnSharpened: Awww hell thanks dude. Man don't use my brushes! They suck! Go find Cicinimo's or M@'s! Cheers!
RandAlThor: Thanks dood!
pbgse: Thanks, hehehe. More coming, I've been so bad about updating...
Infinit: Yeeeeehaw. Wow, fuck math dude! No really ... hehe. Thanks so much for the crits, I can never get enough of those
Call0ps: Hahaha, sky is the limit dood! Can't get enough of this art stuff *snorts a line of oil paint*. Yeeeeeeeeeehaw! Thank ya kindly.
Quinn Simoes: Thank ya sir.
Blue Severin: Thanks doooood. How's San fran treating ya?
kielbasa_w: Thanks dooder! It's interesting how often I find Southern Utah creeping into my invented environments. I need to input more variety in my head, time to travel. That said, Southern Utah is so beautiful. Do some studies! Let me know if you post!
MeTaL-Mike: Thanks doodsmith. You should do some studies. Do them from paintings and do them from photos, variety is the spice of life. You learn the most from experimenting and then refining your experiments. I try and copy it as much as possible but don't usually get so picky as to copy the strokes. Just jump in and think about what you are doing dude! Let me know how it goes!
BohemianChaos: Thank you much!
Mr-Joe: Hehehe. The song .. can't remember the title but it's by Vitalic; visionary stuff me thinks. About duplicating; I'm not sure where it is in the menu's but the keyboard shortcut for it is ctrl+alt+shift+e , it's a tough one but I use it a lot. It takes everything visible and stamps it onto a new layer. Cheers dood!
eskanto: Thanks dude! Screw confidence, just jump dude. You won't learn until you try. Jummmmmmmp!
Freshlysqueezed: Thanks dood! I will!
Clochette: Why thank you! What about my midtones?! *blushes*
MonkeYoakum: Thanks dude! I was just looking through the whole book the other day, blew my mind; feels so long ago. Cheers!
hummdrumm: Hey mothafucka! I really need to call you up and come over, drink some beer and draw. Been shit busy lately, sucks. Hope you are doing well dood!
Wholewheat_keyboard: Thanks dude! sexy brushstrokes?
Demo: Glad to hear it dude! Thanks!
Miles: Thanks doodsmith! Can't say I'm on MSN that often these days
The Soulforged: Thanks!
Nettle_Mountain: Aww I love you too. Glad the tut's are helping out
Roczniak: Thank you kindly!
Chuck, mate.: Pat ! You bastid! How's life?! I owe you a cold one, and a bottle of whiskey!
cakeypigdog: Thanks dude! I'm painting now more than ever before! Weeeeeeee. How the hell you been? Have you updated lately?
thesadpencil: Thanks Lately I've been using Cicinimo's brushes and a few from other people - and of course the round brush. Cheers!

Nonie: Shitballs! How you doing girly?! You ever do any lunch studies?
Dougbot: Duddddddeeeee wtf! I'm jealous of your skills! Anytime you want to mix your peanut butter with my chocolate just give me a shout. (That sounds vaguely sexual...) Anyhow, was really glad to meet you in Seattle too!
Arrogant Thought: Hahaha, what a nutty screenname. Thanks a ton dood!
Stark: I crapped on your artistic heart! HOT! The marines? That was my backup plan, but I'm a pacifist at heart Don't do it dood.
Algenpfleger: Yeah, damn - took me way too long huh?
Anthriel: Yeaaaah, shit I've been bad. Thanks dood!
Leo Snow: Thanks a ton! Hahah, love your location... Cheers!
Rupeshtalaskar: Ack, sorry - so bad with updates lately. Blog I can usually handle though ... Anyhow, how's the weather in Mumbai?
Homeless Foxman: Thanks dude! There is soooo much more for me to learn, I'm just getting started! Cheers!
staticpen: My pleasure!
mull77: Damn dude! How the hell you been? Did I hear something about you having a kid or am I smoking crack? You ever on MSN anymore? Hahaha, see having a girlfriend and a life just makes art even better. Too much art sucks the soul dry, got to refuel!!! Peace buddy.
Flaskpost: Thanks haha! I dunno about that, but thanks.
Chromosome: Thanks dude! Love love your stuff!
Gerbil Fetus: Ooo what does a gerbil fetus look like I wonder? Sloth fetus's are amazzzzzing. Cheers!
Maxetormer: Thanks I love you too!
Lakka: Nooooooooo, you need your tounge. It's good for tasting and stuff.
2100: Thanks much! Man I really don't know why I do what I do ... it's sort of instinct in those regards? Just playing in a giant sandbox called art :| Lately however been really loving a lot of the animation visdev guys. Very flowy. Cheers!
Perilous: Jump in dude! Do some color environments and stuff, one step at a time always gets you to the top of the stairs you know? The music? Man I don't remember now ... Vitalic on some ... I think if you click it and go to youtube it's listed under the info. Cheers dude!
Rumple: Thanks much! Been a wild ride but fun as hell.
GiantRibot: YEWTAAAAAAAAH! Represeeeeeeent.
marco nelor: What up dood! Thanks so much!
kelly x: Hahaha wow! The christmas ornament?! Nutty! Thanks for the kind words.
King Kobra: Thanks! I'll try!
Ryn: Updates! Oh yeah! I forgot. Generally I am really bad with reference, I really need to use more of it! It's interesting, I think now the best benefit to using reference isn't to the current painting, it's what you learn from the reference and can use in the future. Like building a repitoire you know? Generally the best approach - is a varied and multi-directional approach. Go nuts and try everything Lyndsey! Happy to help in anyway that I can
wargrafix: Thanks much! @_@ Alien452 is great
Hideyoshi: Thanks for dropping in dude, you already know how much I love your stuff
IanE: Thanks! I'll keep up the insanity until I go crazzzzzzy. @_@ hehe.
Arteater: Thank ya kindly!
ForScience: Hey brosef! It's a sign that I haven't updated in forever ... good lord. MARCH!? Yeah I so wish I could post work stuff now, I will probably hate it in however many years until release. Holy crap, you wrote this when I was at ComicCon?

Ooooh! So. Nice! I love your environments. So lush and like you just swiped them down in one stroke. The whole dimension of those caves communicates so well. I also find your use of very bright whites inspiring.
I wasnt going to log in but oh well...
Really good job Thom!
