I really like the bottom left of the helmets, it goes against the grain will be a good contrast to the smooth lines of the bird bike. Gonna take a leaf out of you book and do some composition stuff seem to be fun and I bet you'll learn loads.
(hey mail me you address as I have just found a book you lent me and I will post it back to you)

Cheers for the nice comments, people. It's much appreciated!

forgeman: Freak, eh? Cheers!

jdeegz: Ta! Yeah I screwed up that second helmet. Lost sight of what I was trying to do...

ciots: Hey! Long time no see! Cheers for looking in.

cakeypigdog: Thanks, man. I'm getting dangerously addicted to 'ol' blue' again... I really want to do more compositional stuff but just haven't had time recently. Grrr...

monotony: Dogs in pods = utopia. Sorry about the scrote bird...

matejkovacic: You are dead right about that hand. It is evidence of my lack of skillz when it comes to those five-fingered bastards! Thanks a lot!

jedininjaman: Thanks for looking. I'll stop by your SB and see if I can offer any crits.

Hive_minD: Err, yeah now I have to remember to save out some process stuff, eh? Thanks as always, Chris!

[void]: Dream Worlds is indeed a great book. It's kind of a shame that those Disney films didn't end up half as bold and expressive as the original art. Cheers, dude!

DANKA: Thanks for the stars! I'll keep on learning...

RES: Hey, Ryan! You're a star yourself mister. Hope all is well with you and your good lady.

algenpfleger: Thanks very much. Your SB thread shows a crazy amount of progression and promise. Keep it up!

Josef K.: Thanks. I'm trying to be as diverse as possible. Mainly because I find that the more areas I try my hand at, the more my various skills start to 'connect up'. If that makes any sense.

D@niel: You're most welcome! Cheers!

Ashab: Yeah, I think I might try out that bottom left design when I get to the vehicle proper. Definitely try out the composition stuff - it's been a real eye opener for me. Will email you my address. Which book is it, out of interest? Hope you are well, fella!

D_BAKER: GETTHEBOOK... Cheers, Dan! Hope you liked the Sparth book.

Bushido: Right you are!

Here's some recent bits and pieces. I've not had a great deal of time for artwork in the past week due to being away last weekend and then having flu for the past few days. I'm feeling pretty agitated as there's so much stuff I want to get done.

More pencils - is masturbatorial brain-farts a term that's already been coined?

A funny little speed paint from one lunchtime:

A piece I did for my mother and father-in-law for their wedding anniversary. It's a place called Bamburgh Castle in Northumberland. They seemed pretty happy with it so that's cool.

More, betterer stuff soon.

Cheers, Nick.

So when you're a 5 starrer do you have to be all cool and stuff by calling this brainfarts? Wish my brainfarts were like this. The paint is sick too, the waves and stuff is just to freakin good almost looks like a paint over!
Keep up the great work and thanx for the insparation!

super good with the sea scape mister, I agree with jake have a bash at the oil paints, paint on anything you find (if anything you can do some cool macro shots for textures and brushes in ps).
Tanks for the comments mister means alot from you boys and the book is the ashley wood number its abit dusty but in good shape and your wedding present too will come in the same box.

Hey Nick. Hope you're well!

Ages since I've been in here. So much going on. You're a machine! Makes me quite sick. Keep the faith and don't go off the beaten track to work in a school. Eats time like a motherfucker. Time off becomes an abstract concept. I'm determined to try and keep my hand in, but your output makes me quite envious. Styles and processes galore, and then some. Shame I can't keep on adding stars. Ace.

I really hope you're getting paid for it.

James

Great batch of pencils two times back, no licking, chameleon eating his head, great! The thumb on the hand zbrush looks a tad short to me. Great stuff as always.

Cheers as always, folks!

cakeypigdog: Cheers, fella! I will get into real painting one day, honest.

PieMonster: Thanks muchly. You have a great name, btw.

algenpfleger: Yeah it came out ok. Just an exercise in observation, really. Cheers!

Towarlock: Thanks!

kidult: They're definitely brainfarts - enjoyable enough to do but I don't always feel like it's moving me on at all. Thanks, man.

juczpen: Ta!

Clochette: I love your lines too!!!

Ashab: Yepyep I've got to do it for real some time. The Ashley Wood one? I forgot I've even owned it! Wicked.

JPW: Hey! Long time no see. Thanks for stopping by. My wife is a school teacher so I know how much of a time-sapper it is. Keep the faith and keep you hand in. Your stuff is aces and your sense of humor tickles my bone (the funny one, that is). I spend a good portion of my time at work concepting and the rest building models off my concepts so I guess that counts, right?

MonkeYoakum: Yeah, I think the thumb got shrunk coming into Zbrush. No excuses tho, tsk tsk. Cheers, fella!

Hive_minD: Thanks, Chris! It's much appreciated.

hunchbackmagee: Thanks!

D-BAKER: Hey, Dan! Are you planning to get Left 4 Dead? I think a few of us at work are going to buy it so it'd be good to do some online co-op with your good self as well. Hope you're well, fella!

Leviah: Really glad if I've managed to inspire you in some way. Thanks.

Here's the latest bunch o' stuff.

There's a contest over at moddb.com to design a survivor and boss infected character for Left 4 Dead. Thought I'd give it a shot. My Boss Infected is surrounded by a swarm of birds that he can fire out to attack enemies and obscure their vision. He can also fly over short distances thanks to his feathered friends:

A couple of thumbnails for survivors. I'm thinking of some kind of resourceful hobo. I quite like the idea of a towering lady bum:

I mocked up an old idea for a designer toy in 3d. Simplified things quite a bit to make it more fitting:

This started out as something potentially for work but I didn't think it fit the brief so worked on it some more at home:

I missed the International SP day but thought I'd have a go anyway:

More soon.

Ta, Nick.
