@jester: thank you, don´t know what´s up with my drawn noses...
ok here is a quick snapshot of my todays painting (2 hours work so far)
i am not finished at all!
I work on canvas (cotton) with a Gesso vanish (its a bit better this this)
but i have still problems get dark values...
how can i achieve a glossy look?
I use terpentine for make the oil thinner
but i also have "Leinöl" (the oil with is already in the tubes)
but it doesn´t pop that much.... tipps?
or how to get darker values in gernerally (i use Lukas Studio oil colours)
just want to add:
work without ref. just controlled proportion with a snapshot of myself randomly.
It looks a lot better now... will show a progress next time...
Just have to make a break because my room smells dangerously of terpentine..... .
will fill the background with dark brown...
-still need help and tipps ... see above -
ok here a two pages from my sketchbook... not the best, all without ref.
- help me with my painting -
I check your thread out quite regularly, but never got to posting, so here goes .
Nice faces & oil portraits (not that I know anything about oils, but I'm liking them). Good expressions and contrast (light/dark) in most of your faces !
Keep up the good work !
wow, cool stuff. this one deserves more replies for sure
you better beware for i am watching your progress
you have a strong awareness of form, i think. the faces you draw are awesome. especially since the facial features have a very three-dimensional feel to them - you convey so much form.
i also like how your second oil painting developed. it has changed a lot towards the end. it's dope, regarding it's your fourth oil painting ever. i always give up way to early when working with oils. never finished anything with em. i'm just terrible with brushes, i think. so i stick with pencils for the time being :/
kepp it up
Wow, i was a bit sad that nobody gave me a reply...
@maxetormer: thank you very much
@Nightvision: thank you and keep up on your stuff too.
@Hanuka:thank you, it was a hell of experience with that oil painting
worked 12- 18 hours on this which could be done in a few one.
I will never work again without having a plan what it should be at the end.
Ok here is a small update, i am not quite on top of health,
so this is mostly done lying on sofa or in bed...
Not really a progress forward.
new haircut new sketch
wasn´t happy with the last one
just doddles and some anatomy
very nice studies! i love the way you draw noses and have come to the conclusion that i need to do some studies. it is time to bust out the old anatomy books and learn for a while. i just enjoy the way you build the nose. keep up the great work!
Thank you rollb82,
it is just about knowing how a nose done.
Draw it from every perspective...
Ok here is a 30 - 40 min sketch, i don´t want to draw just
dragons or guardians... so i made a mixture of wildpig dog and dragon.
I going to understand the relation between form perspective and lighting
a bit better...
less effort less quality
ok here 2 new stuff
the first is with reference
the second a self portrait (everytime another face)
I realy like the way you draw faces! You ad personality to them and
make dem come alive. Those canvas paintings are great I love the
eyes and the colouring. Great work!
I want more awsome drawings!
ceep on ceeping on!

a bit more effort... no ref 30 min...
bad shot... perhabs i fix it...
... anybody can help me with this strange stuff
Ill have to agree with everyone about the great heads,
Some proportions (however its spelled) is a bit off on the faces
Great work, I look foward to seeing more work from you
thank you Alvarez
- still no ref... i really got a method my fantasies can spread
93 of 143 replies are from myself...
ok here a quicky 15 min
perhabs it´s the paper of the sketchbook
or it is my impatience to finish a stuff
but i have difficulties doing a good rendering...
Xaya who workes too rough
give my your opinion!!!
just for fun... can´t imagine how it is to work as traditional animation artist
Powdered Toast Man!!!
Your Sketchbook is phenomenal - keep it up!! Your work is really good and it's thrilling to see your development!!
I love your lines and I like the way you work your portraits in oil!
Your figures without reference are terrific!
@Imageproof: thank you a lot, well i am self supprised by the development,
there were big steps for and also many in the wrong direction,
currently i sketch every day, and it is great!
You lose your ability to draw so quickly, because it is just a tight thing to have in mind...
look at this sketch i have done in about 10 - 15 min
it has it mistakes (the arm was thought to be a bit larger)
but it is just a mirical to me how i done it...
@Jokisalo; well that´s my favourite too the mood is really a happy "accident"
looking through all of my sbs you can see no really similarities
which is quite bad , quite fine...
I work too fast, go to fast above proportion checks...
you will see many sb here next weeks,
some more finished some less... don´t think i continue on this...
wow so many replies!!! sorry for sarcasm
ok, i perhabs heard a "click" in my brian
my understanding of volume gone to another level
here is the sketch i done (20min)
it is very sketchy but u may see the progress.. or not...
