hey

Nice start to a sketchbook you got here. My one suggestion is to finish building the forms before you render them. I think your work has a lot of potential and i think coming up with a well structed way of work can push you to that next level. keep up the solid work.

Ding ding!

Liams got it. That is why his sketchbook is pretty well developed. drawing is like building a puzzle you cant just start with the nose with in a puzzle piece and expect to get things accomplished. you need a game plan. my plan for puzzle building is to work from the outside in. work on the structure of the image you are doing by setting a wire frame then apply shapes that go accordingly with the anatomy. break objects down. think of every aspect of the human body in shapes and then think of the way the light would hit these shapes to show form. that is all i can say for now, but damn liam is good. check out his work and you will see what i am talking about. don't forget to check out mine too and dop a crit sometime.

good luck on your building mission

p.s. check out mentlers stuff too he uses the same method.

Great stuff from you two.
I really dig yoru sketchbooks.

The current way i appraoch drawing, is to block in a whole figure outline as a mass blob/shape, then render in shadows until the area where light is suppsoed to be remains.

So I'll try what liam suggest (next time I Life draw someone. Thanks for the useful tip!)

Finally, a Koshime daily! Not much crits from my side as of now, i think the guys "up above" have made the valid points already.
Anyway, cool to see the stuff you did in Gent, as I didn't get to see much of them at the time... looking forward to seeing more!

cheers

I really like your car designs.. maybe you should use more often straight lines to correct the perspective.

Yah, thanks alot mate for your comments. Funny thign is, it look swonky scanned, but looks acceptable on paper. ha har. Problem with freehand - I tend to skew towards a fish eyed world!
Guess I need to draw more and back to basics!

I thought this thread deserved a nice "bump" to the top. Your design skillz rock!! I also enjoyed the background layouts you did. Keep posting the life drawing stuff. I really liked what you did with the marker and ink rendering.

Havent had much chance to paint or draw during my house moving, so I did this character study last night which evolved from an abstract cloud study

EDIT: just looking at this...might be nice if it were on struts in the sky?
