arms are looking good! but the arms on the torsos look a little wonkier.
i would recomend some ufc! and pascenko
i think a mistake i made was that i drew arms only from other drawing or from imagination. forgot to look at real arms! hehe, dont do that!
Aragah: thanks! pascenko? o.o Yeah I have to work on them a lot more!
phthano: Haha thanks..glad someone does since I don't haha.
ahh shit, sorry (to myself? haha), I had some personal issues come up. there were some external circumstances which depressed me a lot and I became a wimp.
BUT I can use it for motivation, I think, so as of tomorrow I start a new chapter of life! O_O One which does not hold an attachment on anything or anyone except for art. I'm now realize that I just need to let myself be completely immersed in it and be free from these stupid social situations. Things will come together in time.
For now, excuse the horrible shit I have produce. I was in such a horrible mood and I really have/had no right to be in one either, haha. I'll have an early sleep tonight and an awesome day tomorrow.
perspective, 10 min each
shitty gestures that I did not use my brain on : |
birds with the intention of getting an idea to draw them from imagination for the failure of two comic pages
the failure from my head
okay yeah tomorrow will be a waaay better day. : |
There we go. The perspective studies, I think you put the horizon line too high or then you got a seriously tall person looking down on the living room 'n stuff. So keep that in mind.
The comic doesn't look all that bad. The only part I'd redo is the hand holding the heart and I'd also make it more obvious that she is digging out his heart. You jump from fumbling with his shirt/chest to holding his heart.
Also I don't get the bird-shot. You've already had an establishing shot in the first pane. The bird-shot would work if you were removing the viewer again from what is happening, but then you bring him back.
So in short: first page is good, redo the second page.
Alex Eh: Thanks! <3
Kweckduck: haha thanks Fred, I appreciate the input. i tried doing some unrelated shot to establish a mood, but you're right about the view being unnecessary. I'm not redoing anything though, haha, it's just in the junk pile. <3 many more to come in the future.
today was awesome! O_O except for the fact that i didn't get through my schedule since photoshop kept crashing when i opened it this morning. I spent so long figuring out what was wrong haha
1.5 hour still life
chicks (40 min each)
20 min ref
shit from imagination
oops forgot this shit warmup this morning after i finally got photoshop going haha

Aragah: well I purposefully set the timer to that long haha. hmm, I like to spend a bit longer on them for observational purposes? i duno. i should do some quick ones too probably!
Kungfoowiz: ahahah no where near this 'success' yet, i have a lot to learn..thank you! <3
Alex Eh: Thanks :D
hmm I have to stop thinking that i'll get more done if I stay up late. -_-
also, i was at a friend's for most of the day...hadn't seen her in a long while! D: social day killed my productivity though haha
color studies. first one about an hour, second one almost two fking hours. tomorrow i'm going to try to apply them, because my skin tones are so terrible from my head
i did these from imagination o_o I was talking while I did them...not really an excuse for why they're so shitty. i'm going to work harder on structure tomorrow fff---
I think you should get into the habit of doing more longer things from your head. I feel your drawing mostly things your comfortable with. Not much image making or designing and no matter how good you get technically, designing something will take a lot of effort. We only get better at that stuff by doing it too!
sharks: thanks, very far from good still >_>
Alex Eh: it's funny you posted this comment the day that I did a longer piece, lol. <3 thanks, totally agree, need to explore outside of my comfort zone so much more hahahaha
kidult: aw thanks, haha.
small update. did this chick and figures form my head. there are a lot of issues, hate the colours, but yeah, I need to do a lot more of this. o_o and my next goal is to make these final pieces notsofuckingboring.
Kweckduck: Ahaha thank you, but the problem is that I don't know how to apply it properly from imagination...and they turn out really gummy in the studies...i dont know how to explain it haha
Alex Eh: thank you! D:
Aragah: thank you! *_* Yes her feet are off and so strange... wtf. :/ need so much practice still!
Lux_Aeterna: thank you hun! <3
lalala i dont know what i'm doing ffffffffuck it all! : D
still life, kept under 1 hour for the first and 40min for 2nd.
studies from craig mullins and copycat "everyone-does-these" mma dudes.
wow, absolutely shit imagination, in the fail bin
some "weight" studies...? just like 10min each
mullins was super helpful..someone compiled his notes on some blog and i found this---
hieararchy of colour:
when I paint from imagination i have the most trouble with getting the value of a colour right...so i want to be able to see a colour in its grayscale form (without actually having to work from grayscale)?
IT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE BUT I SUCK AT IT HAhAha
i have le sketches too but i am too tired to upload so goooodnight

Hey i actually wrote something more then a phrase!
Yeah it is, I think I should start specifying what things are. What they are for ect.
Value plays a very big role in adding depth to an image almost always the largest, but there are a few other tricks, overlaping shapes, organizing big and smaller shapes, atmospheric perspective, edges, the way you organize textures, perspective, color can play a role too.
One thing I would like to say is, making a habit of self deprecation can become a bit redundant after awhile haha. At least for me. I know its just expressing the feelings of self disappointment, but it does become redundant @_@
Keep up the good work!

I very much like your characters. Especially the girls! Specifically their hairstyles, clothing/designs and the poses all flow very nicely.
I will have to do some studies of your work!
It's great that you're doing as many digital studies as you are. They will help a lot. I feel that both the way, and the content of what you're currently studying is the best way to maximize your learning and progress. The mix of colour studies from reference and imagination, and the drawing studies from reference and imagination will make sure you're covering all the bases!
I would recommend trying to throw your imagination colour character studies into environments. That'll kill two birds with one stone. You'll get to practice rendering environments and characters at the same time! It also helps because - at least for me - you still get to draw a character (fun!) and also get the practice of drawing environments (not so fun?!)
wasabi89: Aw thank you D: <3 Aragah: Oh god no ;_; I'm so far from that man. I have to push it harder, my brain has to work more...thank you though pedorooo! DpttArt: Thank you! D: pointers? you're asking me?? lol..umm I guess vilppu/loomis helped me a lot, uhmm...well drawing full bodied figures all the time helps, especially establishing the weight...ahh sorry that's not very helpful. just practice I guess *_* I still have to practice too! eep Alex Eh: Ha! Thanks I think. i did that before falling asleep so it's kind of derp... Jarrad: Thank you! ;_; Keep working hard! FinalKnight: Wow thank you, reading through your comment made me fuzzy inside! D: Yeah I should combine them with environments for sure, i think there's a background-to-character connection that I'm missing when I do these imagination pieces haha, so your suggestion is awesome. Kweckduck: Yes! *_* I think I just felt that if I couldn't establish weight/proportions with standing poses, then I definitely couldn't handle anything crazy. but I'm trying and I'll push it harder, it's a big struggle! ty!
Today was great! I found a few very young artists working so hard (namely winterfingers' sketchbook! wow girlie you are awesome ngngngg ;_;) and I felt so inspired/happy/thankgodforthesepeople/humiliated. What the hell was I doing five years ago? God I was stupid for thinking I couldn't get into art. I guess that's just laziness and ignorance on my part. Here's to changing my stupidity level over the course of the next few years, huzzahh~
Oookay well, this is a sketchbook and not an opinion blog so what the hell haha
shit color study of Freddie (sohawt;_;) from skins / a landscape i didn't finish. i was watching akira while doing these though so hahaha (btw, manga is much superior to the anime imo).
gestures and really strange 3 minute poses after...o_O my brain shut off I think haha, there was no structure..i'll try again tomorrow lol
and the rest from imagination! the perspective is freehand if it looks really strange haha
man I didn't get to everything on my schedule. o_o I was supposed to do a bunch of imagination painting... what the hell. well, I will try again tomorrow.
