I am Marlene. Since I was a kid I liked drawing. But untill a year or two I haven't taken it seriously enough (no studies, bad anatomy, failed attempts on manga style...).
A while ago I decided to finally get my ass up and practice a little more.
This is my last summer holiday week, and I need to do something.
So here are a few little pieces I've done. Also my first attempt with oil pastels today (shroomcat). Fun thing.
Critique and comments are very much appreciated!
i agree with you ,you need practice.
You can start to draw objets , glass,pen,ball,fruits... and you can use the rubber and pen for this, someone invented the rubber for some reason, breath(miga de pan in spanish ), the ballpen is for you learn to draw clean for you get the first idea(for me grafiti)
but with the pen and hard work you can find your style and when you get this ,its moment if you want for use the ballpen.
i always use the pen and the rubber, sometimes for scketches i use the ballpen , now i submit some of my ballpen in the next post i agree the link
i hope help you with this
hey, how's it hanging (: i need to get my ass in gear too, i've only just stopped doodling anime characters and dogs a few months ago so keep practising and i will as well! i have five weeks of my summer holiday left, kind of wasted the first week though haha.
Some little warmup I did in the late mornin'. Anyone knows a good reference site for separate parts? (more eyes, hands, arms, etc)
I bet I'll find stuff via search, but anyway... I appreciate any help!
well, the last week of your holidays is a bit late, but better late than never! Just as long as you carry on drawing after your holidays...
One questions springs to mind...do you doodle while on the phone? It looks like you enjoy losing yourself in your drawings, and I think that you should try to maintain this relaxed approach..
as for references..well, I think that one good thing is google for hi-res pictures, and then crop in for the individual parts, but said that...I think that here on CA and on other sites, people go on with "reference, reference reference", but then only photographic reference is mentioned. I would suggest instead to find some of your favourite artists, and see how they "interpret" the parts you mention...how they do eyes, hands, feet, hair etc. Because after all drawing, painting etc is a interpretation of reality, is convention and decrypting what one sees. See how they do it, and then find your own way, which will be a happy mix, and with yourself thrown into it.
After all, we all are dwarves on the shoulders of giants!
best of luck!
Thanks a lot, Mae!! :>
Yeah, it's a bit late, but well. I doodle all the time. Don't worry! I also do it on the phone sometimes. And because I'm at some sort of art school, I won't stop anyway. To look up for my favourite artists would be really time consuming, as I don't have 'favorites'. I follow/ed a lot of great ppl on dA, and constantly find a few great ones at blogger/tumblr, too. But I think I'll get to do this sometime anyway. For now I've decided to try studying from (e)books.
So... and there's the rest of the little eye 'study'; and I've tried - not hard enough - to practice a bit with forms and shadows. *FAIL, hand was hurting* xD
But I've started with Andrew Loomis 'Fun with a Pencil'. Got to 'THE FUN STARTS!', so... and oh YEAH it's funnnn!
Guess who's the last guy, you'll get a cookie.
*sry for the bad pic quality*
urgh - last post 6th August? WTH! u_u
still... i've made a couple of little things. i also got a bamboo now (since ~2,5 months) and... here's some of my most recent stuff!
since i noticed that the few pics i've posted before make the loading so long, i'm putting on thumbs (yay photobucket).
