I like the last one for the reason following.
It shows what you should be doing, and what you shouldn't, I think.
His right arm looks flat compared to the sharp transitions of value fields that effectively portray form in the places applied on his left arm.
It lacks a general lightsource though that would be essential or it hasn't been properly introduced yet but I believe you're on the right track. Just something to consider.
The studies from the last page are very solid.
I hope I'm not just typing out of my ass and that you'd find this helpful, keep it up!
kevin_ : Thanks a lot man!
Rotor: Hey man, dude thanks a lot for taking the time to write that out. Your words were not lost on me, and you're totally right. I might revisit it at some point and try and implement what you talked about
rinnikirun : You're right...but you're always right when it comes to anatomy XD
Hey guys, super lazy update...I have more to throw up...but I'll do it tomorrow. I think life is catching up to me. I'm finding it hard to have the will to update at the end of the day. Uhm this SB makes me really happy though, so I'm gonna keep doing it. Please if anyone has any crits, comments, praise, hate...whatever please feel free to post it!
kevin_: Thanks a bunch dude...I haven't done too much linework lately. Decided to try and change it up a bit, glad you like it ^_^
Stuck at work today...here's the study stuff from the day...decided to spend a little bit longer on the figure study today...hopefully it doesn't look too terrible. At least it has legs XD
Hey Psychobuddy, thanks for dropping by my SB! It looks like you're making a lot of progress regarding your techniques, and I suspect you will continue to do well in this respect. But don't neglect developing your design sense. History, cultural garb, fashion, graphic design, architecture and mythology are all examples of bountiful sources of inspiration and reference for the concept artist. Exposure to these kinds of things will develop your sense of taste that will dramatically affect your work, and will go a long way in helping you stand out from the others.

phiq: Dude thanks a ton, you're totally right...haha most of my crap is really uhm uninspired I guess...pretty much dudes standing there. You're words are really weighing heavily on me, I've been so concerned with the technical aspects of drawing and painting this past year it's been hard for me to get past that and delve into the more "abstract" concepts of design, mood, character those kinds of things...I really do think it's time I start to investigate that side of it. Like you said it's really what makes my drawings mine...
and thanks a ton for that tumblr...that is one of the best ref sites I've ever seen. So dude thanks so much please stop by again...hopefully by then I'll have some sort of a design sense!
Hey guys, just looked at the clock and realized it's 1130...thought to myself, fuck what have I done today...I really wish I could quit my job...anyway here's todays stuff....I really need to get into the habit of working stuff up from imagination...I guess that's another to to add to the list XD
Hey man Nice studies, love the anatomy stuff!
Those recent hands, they look bridgman ? Overall drawing your hand from life is better then drawing book hands. If those hands were from life, then forget what I said and keep it up!
Have a nice one!

Satu: Thanks a ton! I was trying to do things little bit different on those, glad you liked them ^_^
rinnikirun: Haha yes sir! You already know my plan ...I'll get to it.
.: Thanks a lot! I dropped a reply in your SB, but just in case it's pretty much google, tumblrs, and pdfs...haha XD
Hey guys I really sucked today XD Man I got so little done...and it all came out so bad...oh well. Tomorrow is a new day, and it's almost tomorrow! Can't wait.
All those studies are looking pretty great... the skintones on some of the colour ones are just lovely. The doodle at the top of the page - his musculature isn't really holding together, especially on the big arm; it feels way too simplified, and sort of lumpy. You've been doing some great muscle studies, it'd be interesting to go back and try to apply them a little more closely. =)
Revidescent : Haha, you posted at 11:11, make a wish But thanks for the compliments and crits...you're totally right about the muscles, it's actually the reason I went to do more of those kinds of studies haha XD
Uhm so it's been what, 10 days since I posted...shit...been busy with the part time job, other life stuff...uhm I've been studying though as much as I could... unfortunately, I slipped into laziness after my last post...I was still studying and stuff...just not really anything worth while...certainly nothing worth posting...so uhm...I dunno around the middle of last week whatever...I'm not sure why it matters I decided I really sucked at doing everything so I just challenged myself and started to draw more I have a massive study goal that I'm not really gonna get into here I don't want it to loose too much of it's mystique Uhm just know that the pencils I'm posting are part of it...what they are is 100 eyes, 100 mouths, 100 noses, 100 arms, and I think around 50 legs...uhm yeah...they were started on Wednesday I think and so yeah...I dunno I'm already getting long winded and I have no idea what to say at this point XD...uhm enjoy I guess it's all pretty boring and crappy...but that's why I'm challenging myself ^_^ Oh all those heads were done during this time too yeah...is it weird that I feel like I'm not doing enough...
Uhm yeah I think that's everything ^_^
The lips in the last post. Last set. Color. Those are some sexy lips ha ha. In fact I think the overall use of color is what really draws me in. The more I look the more I started to feel the color was proper and matched what we as humans see. Very nice.
Hey I've seen your stuff somewhere before
I like it The studies are really paying off I see.
Visit my sketchbook gogogogogogo!
Hey Thanks for your comment in my thread! You have got some killer work in here. You are at a level at which I cant offer any crits, but man! Just keep doing what you are doing. I'll be dropping by here often
your studies are very good, be sure to remember them when doing your own work.
keep you good work
i always felt not doing enough when i do studies, but later i realize i was working when i totally stop drawing and fall into idle mode . So enjoy yourself while doing these
you're in the right track
There's some wicked progression in here man, keep up the awesome work.
shockowaffel: Yupp, me= not to confident with heads, trying to remedy that lately though, thanks for stopping by, and I will keep it up!
Pete Hidalgo: Haha thanks man, I remember reading a comment about colour in someone elses SB, and they were talking about "bringing a little bit of life into the colour" menaing changing it a little from the ref, and that being okay, cause photos drain some of the colour, so that's what I tried to do, remedy the colour drain haha...Super glad that it worked out well. ^_^
Nyoron: Really? That's weird O_o...let me think where are the only other places I've posted, the Daggers forum that one time, and my facebook account...huh weird. But thanks, I'm trying to get better, slow and steady I assum eis my mantra XD
Damien Levs: Haha thank you for the compliments, you're too kind, but I am always, ALWAYS open for crits if you have any...never shy away from it!
zou: Thanks much, you're work is really awesome, thanks for coming by and offering your thoughts. I, yeah you're right...I need to work in more of my own work, I dunno I find it hard...sometimes between my part time job, and trying to study and get better...at the end of the day...I find I have so little time.
jNeumann: Thanks dude, for sure!
Hey uhm yeah, I'm gonna through up my work from the past two days...I uhm...it's just studies boring old studies...I'll try to make it more interesting soon
It's kind of amazing sometimes....how posting...makes you resent everything you do...well back to the drawing board, so to speak...gotta keep improving!
Digging the studies man. SOOOOO MANY!!! Woo! PS Really liking the quick paint in your last post.
No need to apologize for the rambling in my book. I know hardly anything about color and have always avoided it. But after reading your comment and then looking at the cup on my desk I realize that the lights lighting it are an orange tint. That wip I want to focus on closely because I really like the red and black color. Also the black was pure black I will have to look closer as it now looks more Charcoal than "BLACK". Thank you for that man.

hey dude, nice dedication ! Here are my 2 cents : i find your paintings kinda lack of volume . Colors are good, but you should try to spend more time on the blocking in stage, or do a bunch of b&w studies, to really open your eyes on the importance of the volumes, and add to your paintings more solidity and believability ! anyway, keep it up dude !!
Hey Psychobuddy thanks for your comment in my sketchbook. I've had a good time looking through yours and you are progressing really well. I really like your metal bot thingy back in post 320 and your digital paintings of your apples. I like loads actually and my only little crit is that you paint a lot of great looking torso's but they have no heads, hands and feet. My advice, be brave, be bold and give them a go!
kevin_: Thanks Kevin, I'm trying to keep it in my brain!
Pete Hidalgo: Hey thanks for the compliments ^_^ and yeah man no problem whatsoever, I'll be sure to drop by your book again soon and see how your doing.
kikindaface: Thanks man, you're totally right...I'm gonna try and do some greyscale stuff to get a better feeling of form, but I'm gonna try and push it more in the colour stuff too. you're comment really has me thinking, so thanks for that!
Marian Rowling: You're totally right, thanks Marian...I've gotta get over my own fear though haha....
Man oh man...I barely have enough time to do these damn studies...gotta keep pushing.
Uhm, actually if anyone has any advice on time management, that would be really great.
kevin_: Hey thanks man, and yeah I totally forgot to do that, I'll put it on the list for this week!
phiq: Ah man, thanks, it hard when I look at people like you...damn you have great work.
Anyway uhm, I'm trying to tackle some of the stuff you guys were pointing out, especially the sense of form...the first two B&W's were from refs of sculptures, I can pull the website if anyones interested, and the third is me trying to apply some of it. also I'm finally done the hands...so hopefully now I can get into the routine of doing some balanced studies. I burnt myself out doing one thing for days at a time. Anyway, thanks for anyone who's stopping in!
