I've been meaning to get posting again for too long now, so I thought it time I got in gear. These are quick sketches straight into PShop, some with reference and usually about 30~40 minute jobs during lunchbreaks. They represent a couple of ideas / themes I've got in my head at the moment, the idea being I shall return to something once I'm happier with it to paint up further. Or model it. Or both. Thanks for looking.

GREAT stuff! Keep at it, do some studies from life... don't know why this thread asn't got more posts on it, but your stuff is REALLY good
Thanks very much, abisheridee. Am trying to rustle up some life classes as, like you so; SO important. Thanks for posting too! I think my thread very quickly dropped the ranks as the sketchbook threads get added to / updated so regularly.
Great start I'm looking forward to seeing you work up this thread
Cheers, Alucid! I've been distracted of late with other projects, but I'll post that up when I get it to a good state. I've got some older stuff knocking about in the depths of the 'Org somewhere. Here in fact http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...d.php?t=147311 if you're interested.
Thanks for commenting.
Thought I'd include a couple of traditional life-drawings to mix it up a bit. More digital updates to follow. Apologies for poor photography.
Dude, I really like your style. It's original. All i'm gonna say is that it would be awesome if you'd show some pencil sketches. Anyways, again, awesome stuff!
Thanks for the comment, Flanagan! I'll have a dig around mi sketchbooks and add to this thread over the next couple of days.
Those are some gorgeous life drawings looking forward to seeing your update
Great life drawings
I really like the second last painting in your first post too. I would love to see it finished.
Liz: Thanks! I've another Star Wars related project idea that I'll kick off this week, and post results here.
Bombur: Cheers for posting. If you mean the Roman / slavegirl piece I doubt it'll move much further. I do like the roman and greek armour designs though, and I'm quite partial to scantily clad women also! So the themes may be carried forward.
Another little project I've been thinking about over the past few days which I managed to sketchout earlier. I spent a couple of hours painting it up this afternoon, based on a painting by another artist (Dorman?). I've attached his/her inspirational piece below also. Basically, a vision of the Imperial Royal Guard of Star Wars fame. They don't feature very much in the movies, which is a shame. They just kinda float around like cardinals with halloween masks on. I thought it'd be good to look under the red cape!
Thought I'd take the Redguard a stage further, as it'd be nice to get him more 'finished'. To this end, I'll make a few pieces in 3d and comp something together. Starting with the iconic helmet design.
I'll be looking at some 3d cloth studies soon, to get a nice starting point to take to ZBrush.
this is awsome! great anatomy and skills!
wow great stuff i love it
what medium is that on post 6?
Awesome, really awesome! you can actually feel the pressure, the weight and the volume in your sketches
nice studies here
Hey nice life drawing studies! For your 3d model, may i ask why your're making diff. parts of the pieces separately and comping them together? It would be much easier to block out the form first, and work on the details in the final step, just like any drawings initially, just a suggestion......I'd like to see some more 3D from you, your concepts are very apealing
Thanks very much, guys. Appreciate the comments. blu_dragon, the kitparts I build will be used to create a 3d poseable model to render from. They'll be made separately and rendered off this way (once I'm happy with a pose / choice of poses) as it makes it easier to edit and balance. I'll undoubtedly apply other layers / passes in photoshop to bind all the elements together. This is what I meant by 'comping' and find it a great way to work. The emphasis will also focus on ZBrush skills. Thanks for your posts, all.
Some really nice stuff in here slayer! would love to see the seated ogre at the bottom of post#1 all finished and polished.
The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all art and science.
Thanks Latigid! To be honest, that was a U-turn - come - mutation of the roman slave girl sketch above. I like to show a wide range of materials and surfaces, so I thought an ugly ogre with sexy slave girl would be a good contrast. A bit of a Jabba with Leia-slave scenario. I will return to the idea... one day.
Nice work! I like the range of character ideas you're presenting here. The life studies are really enjoyable. I see some proportion errors (the first study, really) but the anatomy and attention to detail is beautiful. Finish up that Imperial Royal Guard!
Cheers, Mr. Wilhelm. Imp Guard will definitely see completion.. am having a mini-break to give attention to other project but 'watch this space'.
Like your website, by the way. Pirate Liche especially.
Thanks for your post.
Mhmmmm great concepts. I like.
