Face study is hard as hell
Really like the work here. Great sense of lighting.
That latest gestural portrait painting is fantastic. In fact all the paintings a nice gestural feel to them
Whirly - thank you !
solid envrionments man. keep it up
timo. - FUSHANDCHUPS : Thank you a lot guys : )
I am continuing in the same way of simplification of workflow and shape.
Now I am only using the line tool to put quickly the bigs shapes / proportion
and main value , and then I detail with the airbrush and selection tool . I like
this way of working , I am going to try it on different studies to see If I can go
somewhere with it , maybe create new custom brush with it and play more
with the color range for selection , I don't know yet , we'll see !
Amazing blocking in and values. Very inspirational
dave117 - > thank you !
timo. -> thank you bro' , Im waiting for you next update , with you awesome new brushes
Still doing some study with the same technics , I have to do more , I feel liek there is so much potential behind it . Line tool is so cool .
Here is a cool exercice my brother told me about , trying to capture the essentials of a study with only 15 brushe strokes .
No time limit , no ctrl z , just a limited amount of brush strokes .
It is really a good exercice , at least for me it makes me feel like I learn a lot more , because I am focusing on every action I make. So it fights against the digital habits that is " I can draw quick , undo , and put tones of layers ".
So less randomness , more control / accuracy.
Really cool , here is the one I have done today. More to come I hope. This is so fun.
Thank you timo , we really should make more indeed
I have done some architecture study , I try to do some of them as much as possible , here are two of them . I try to be as accurate as I can be , I have a lot of work to do on that, it's fun tho : D
And for once I have started to make an image that is not really speedish , it was for a contest about The Witcher and King , but I havn't manage to handle the deadline well , so I end up without a lot of details , but that's okay , I was more focusing on composition and good shapes , even though a lot of improvement could have been done in the perspective / architecture and the character design, I am pretty happy about the results for the first shot I gave to a more complexe picture than I usually do.
I really would like to make more of these , this is really funny to play with story telling and composition , I would like to spend more time on my drawings now.
First of all I'm really happy to see an illustration from you, since you haven't been doing any of those lately. Photostudies (studies in general) are of course really good, but there's a different kind of challenge in illustrations.
The composition, storytelling and such is something you have to practice also in addition to the technical side of things.
The shapes and colors in the Witcher picture are really cool, and the composition works as well. It was interesting to see that you spent a lot of time for the composition which is a really good thing to learn to do.
I wanna see more of these dude, with some more time spent on the details also.
Photostudies are looking good as usually and the 15 brushstrokes challenge is quite an interesting idea, probably will help you in the long run to be much more efficient. Keep it up mate!
Okay veli , I feel you , here is some stuff for you !
I hope everything is going well for you mate : )
I made a little personal challenge were I wanted to make a scene for a point and click / hidden object game.
It was an interesting way for me to practice texture and various other point on my image.
Here is a step by step.
I'ts interesting how you see shapes and draw them
I'd say to focus more to sharpen your shadows for start like on the #74 post.
Try not to get blurry overall, i know it's a style you want, but i think sometimes you can go over the top.
Also, a mistake we all do is to put details on every little think, like on your last sketch.
Try to see what matters most and just leave things behind for start. Less is more many times, especially on enviros i think.
Keep up man, you have great potential!

Man you are killing it, the last post made me shit my pants. Thanks for sharing the process, very cool to see how you did it and the outcome is so damn great.
Congrats on making such an awesome piece, keep it up mate!
knut - > Thank you for your time and critics.
I totally agree with you , actually I don't try to hit a style,
I just try to apply the little I know and do some test with it.
About the detail it was mean to be as neutral as possible with
nothing that really catch the eyes since it was meaning to be in
an Hiden-object-like style.I will try to focus more on story telling in an other
one I think , this is something that really interest me.
Vablo - > Thank you , I hope you will enjoy this study too , I saw your last update on your blog , it's awesome.
And Also I created my first personal blog for my drawings
Here is my last study , I tryed to focus on more simpmification and value works.
Heheyy, good job with the blog, about time!
The rock looks great man, a really good separation between sharp and soft edges.
I've said it many times before, but that's something I think you handle very well. And the colors kick ass also, keep it up mate!
Vablo -> Thank you man ! I have mostly focused on colors and the edges on this one , happy to hear that it works.
I am focusing on value this time. Try to make less brush strokes, control more my hand , and thinking more when I paint. Actually it's more interesting than doing random stuff , for a better quality. I enjoy doing that.
Mirin your skills
Hoo, those last ones look really awesome, and efficient. A bit simplified and that's awesome for laying down stuff quick plus understading the forms better.
Good job mate, better update though!
Ricardo Robles -> Thanks a lot , since I was focusing mostly on lightning on this one I appreciate your feedback : )
razz -> Thank you razz , I will post more step by step on this post and in the future.
Vablo -> Thank you my friend , I really like your last stuff too , keep on going it motivates me !
PITCHBLACK -> Thanks I appreciate !
Timo -> Oh you :>
This post sum up my researches for the last couple of weeks. I have been focusing mainly on Black and White studies , working on the silhouette and values mostly.
My goal on those was too get the more accurate I can while Learning the composant from the picture I took as reference for the studies.
I try to challenge my self more in order to learn more.
It's not reallly obvious on those one , but it will come with time. Also I came back to more pencil/ pen work. I like pencil a lot because I feel more like being precise and put a meaning in every strokes , I am not there yet.
All in all it was a lot of fun learning and practicing , and water color is just too fun for me, I will certainly make plein air painting soon.
Also you can check out my blog , I update it as often as I can.
