Zord- eh i get that james jean bit a lot. I can see why although sometimes i feel like it's unfair, but i wont go into that now haha. anyways glad i could give you some ideas with the landscape format!
a few new ones
- quills and ink are awesome.
- white acrylic gouache is my new best friend.
- it's good when my hands get covered in art supplies.
- mess up? who cares?!

wookiedabo - thanks man!
Kalim- hey thanks! that one is actually done in oils. it didn't take long to dry as i worked it straight into the paper.
I'm starting to work out a technique that I like.
it involves a lot of wiping, painting, drawing and more wiping.
oh yea! most importantly, more fun than frustration.
but don't get me wrong, frustration is good too.
VEry, very, very inspirational, i love the fact that you use one of those books!
I use a moleskin myself to sketch and doodle...
(is it moleskin?)
Great penwork, brave soul for using pens.
Cool sketchbook you've got here. The long format of the physical sketchbook you use is interesting - what kind is it?
Really loving these pieces:
http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...4&d=1238687792 Something mysterious and dream-like there, and great colors.
http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...0&d=1238686531 Again, love the colors and the delicate lines and shading.

adammelo - Thanks! yup its a water color moleskine. gotta love em.
serhc - Thanks! I might put some finished stuff up, if you really want haha.
Cacodaemonia - Hey thanks man! it's a watercolor moleskine sketchbook.
erinel - Thank you! haha yea most people go for the regular sketchbook moleskine.
So, these are basically my first digital paintings ever.
done in corel painter. which was actually quite easy to get the hang of, i guess cause its basically paint.
the assignment was to do two portraits of Isaac Newton.
i'm still trying to catch up in photoshop and all that jazz.
wow man really great stuff! i enjoy alll of it definately! keep posting i would love to see much much more
First digi's ever, huh? Nice job. I love his nose in the first one.
Can I ask you - what's up with the moleskin sketchbooks the past couple years? Everyone seems to be using them, and I have to wonder if there's some secret I don't know.
I wondered the same thing about the moleskines, and went and got one.
Personally, the utility of having a sketchbook that fits in my cargo pockets is awesome. The size is great for.. well, sketches you would do with such little equipment. I wish they were tan instead of yellow but I can live with that. And the pocket is nice for MetroCards etc, if you're in NYC.
Plus they have an intrinsic "niceness" to them. They're pleasing to stack up, handle, look at.
cool stuff man! I love these low contrast palettes you use in these watercolors! Digitals are looking cool as well. Maybe you should try to sharpen up some of the focal areas in these, at the moment there aren't any areas in that portraits where the eye can rest on. Nevertheless kickass stuff and push those digitals :]
I have a watercolour moleskine sitting on my shelf that's been there since i got home from europe last year now I kinda want to get into it.... and those hand studies are incredible.. I look forward to what this sketchbook will bring, I hope you stick around this time!
This is out of control, very excellent work here. You are really taking advantage of the format.
I love your sketches.
Live life, Live love, Love life, then die -- SaiVix
I would really love some honest critiques and improvements suggestions
Renewed Study - I'm drawing again!!
Moleskine!! *cling* I like how your pictures push the boundaries of dreams.
TheVoodooChild- thanks man!
Cacodaemonia- well for me the moleskines just have the combo of easy to carry and quality paper. i actually don't really like the traditional moleskine sketchbooks, i'm more of a fan of the watercolor ones. thing is they're pricey. but i still haven't learned how to make my own sbooks yet(at least without it breaking apart).
Gloominati- thanks for the thoughts! yea i agree with you but i'm to lazy to go back in and fix as these were just a exercise. on the next ones!
amarryth- get to work on that thing! haha
So-naa- dreams are a beautiful thing! glad you think so.
Some sketchbook stuff i've been able to squeeze in during finals time.
