This was my first Chow...The Little Mermaid - both the Maiden and Mer forms. I still want to tighten up the Maiden form. I was attempting a Sargent style approach to my strokes...it's a start...

Second attempt at a Chow - the CrossOver - Clockwork Heart. I think I could have definitely pushed this one more... my rendering is too refined (I am trying to get away from my realism a bit), truthfully I ran out of time and over rendered.
Description of Parts:
1. Front View
2. Back View
3. Side View
4. Case/Holder that is strapped to chest.
5. Protective Leather cover.
This is basically a victorian pacemaker. The ideas is that the clock is rigged to create short electrical pulses using small amounts of neodymium (naturally found magnet) to react with copper coil causing a magnetic field which then produces an electrical current that is conducted with copper wire to come out of the clock via a cord. Theoretically there is a cord with small electrodes attached to the heart around the left and right atrium that comes out of the body. The cord from the clock and the cord from the heart are detachable for winding purposes.
6. Base/Gear box of "heartwork clock" This is the area that all of the magic happens (see above.)
7. Pressure gauge to maintain a constant pulse - and some gear to keep i all connected.
8. Coil Storage - Three are needed to extend the time between winding.
9. Coil and heartbeat control.
From mechanic drawing #8 the coil gradually unwinds passing through numerous storage spindles. From there the coil passes through the pressure gauge where little levers determine the pressure and adjust the heartbeat control gear (marked with an "h" - once was a faucet knob). It then goes into the time meter - which has a glass face allowing you to see the time left until rewind (also visible with the leather protective cover in the heart emblem). The coil is then taken into the gear box and the magnetic charge is applied. The coil is them comes out of the base in mechanic drawing #1 and it can be attached to the cord in the heart.
wow I really like your stuff, its beautiful. I think you need to get a little more definition with your facial features. Your maiden one seems to have it, but the others look flat in places. like the nose on the mermaid and the lip for the man could use a little bit more.
other than that, i really enjoy your work.
saw your last chow entry, you seem to really be improving over the last couple comps. Its wonderful to see how youve progressed. You seem to really love painting, and you can see it in your work. Keep working hard and never hesitate to try something completely crazy. I think you have the talent to really push some of you more reserved pieces further into something no one has seen before. Maybe some more texture and grit, really dig into the forms. As we can see, you can render very well, now, unhinge the box that holds your imagination and really start painting. I know you can do it.
Chow 132 - St. Alia of the Knife...
Precog child...I wanted to achieve the atmosphere of mental strength and self assuredness. I worked more on the face and the sculpting of the figure than I have before...it is a good progression from where I was (i think).
After the fact...I think the face could use more shadows to form it better...

I learned a new process. I hatched everything out in grayscale to really solidify the tones I wanted. (Silly to think I never thought of doing that before). I also constricted myself to one main brush. I have A.D.D. and tend to want to use all of the brushes I have. This was a great stepping stone for me to learn more about what process works best for me!

I love the steampunky heart chow, very nice.
You've got some really great value and rendering skills, but I think your work would really go to another level with some super solid construction and underlying forms. If you can, think about dedicating some study time to that.
