Secondsolar MMP - UPDATE 04_09: imagineFX

I had the chance to design my first spaceship this summer. Now it is part of the SENSAPOLIS theme park http://www.sensapolis.de/ near Stuttgart in Germany.
It was an incredibly crazy 3 months ride from first sketch to Grand Opening..
Covered in sweat, drunk and overthrilled we were the first to ride the slides, which I can assure you are almost as crazy rides as the whole project.
At Different Futures we were a great team of three, the CEO Oliver Bertram, the art director (me) and Manfred Hermann the project architect http://www.differentfutures.com. The project architect for the theme park was Florian Kohlbecker from Kohlbecker Architekten & Ingenieure.

I am incredibly proud and wanted to share the project with you guys...

These are the first concepts:

Technical drawings, 3Dmodels, seams and all that jazz

Next step, graphical design:

The most exciting part: The project site...

This is it - our baby, 'secondsolar MMP' - heavy but beautiful.

That is far too cool. Is it just the one set of slides? How long does the "ride" last?

Arg! Rotten Bastich! (so jealous it hurts)

Fantastic work! Seriously! Are there interiors? Did you design those? It looks like there's a spiral staircase.

duuuuuuuude, that's killer!!! Holy crap, you gotta be proud and excited about that! Did you get to design any of the interior? Was it a trip to see something you've drawn up, to actually be there in real life? Amazing!

i seriously didn't expect to see the thing built in real life, your comment about slides in your first post didn't make any sense when i first read it.
wow man, that is awesome. congratulations.
would love to see the interior shots... or is it just a shell?

That's cool, but what's its propulsion system? We need some fiction and backstory to go with this great design. I don't see any warp nacelles like a Star Trek vehicle would have. Perhaps it's got a jump drive or hyperspace drive for interstellar travel, or maybe its just an interplanetary ship, or it has to use giant stargates.

It must be a great feeling to look at your sci-fi creation in the real world. Congratulations!

I am really excited that you guys seem to like it as much as I do.

Dished - thanks man!

Fellah - cheers! I really am...
If enough people will keep coming, the client is thinking about building more of those all over Europe.. that would be the ultimate rock'n roll.. Keeping my fingers crossed.

VictorB - thanks a lot. 'course I had to share it, hehe..

Hurricane - thanks for the compliment! Really appreciate it!

EVIL - only the birth of my little daughter felt better To ride are are the 4 slides. other than that it has 3 levels, containing a 4D cinema, some lightgunshooter, a cargo area with adventure feeling, an engine room where rubber pistons are trying to hit you, a medical center and so on... some sweet 'space babes' watch the entrances of the slides on the uppest 'terrace-level'

Léon - thank you!

Joshua - Its 4 slides. They're quick, dirty and shake you like a cocktail... If you ride them on a canteen-tray its even better...

Hunterkiller - Yeea. I hope they enjoy it.. cheers man.

Spookybabydoll - definately. watching it grow on the site was incredibly cool...

Goran - thanks!

sourgasm - hehe, glad you like it.. You can enter the 1st level through that staircase and the second one through the rear end. Its a bit confusing inside.. first time in I got lost in my own ship..

Chupacabra - Schön, daß ich dich auch beeindrucken konnte, my man. Du hast mich neulich mit Deiner webseite sauber vom Stuhl gefegt... Danke fürs vorbeischauen!

MrSmith - cheers!

psychoboy - thank you for the compliment!

andyhunt - thanks a lot.

jharford - definately. most rewarding thing in a long time... The client was really cool too. There wasn't much time for changerequests anyways, but still, it went all comparably well...

Strych9ine - Thank you for stopping by. Means a lot to me.

James - cheers, man. Ya - it felt insane from the first moment. There were some lucky moments too, that saved our asses sometimes. And only one steelworker who drilled through his hand. Watching the workers crawl on that thing makes you believe in wizzards again..

baxart - thanks for the props! We didn't design the interior. The company responsible for that was first in that project. With the next ship we will definately try to maintain control over the interior too...

jfwalls - hehe, thanks man. it is fun! If you come to the area, let me know. I'd be happy to give you a tour!

corspufo - Hell ya! entering the hall for the first time was close to my first mushroom experience, hehe.. thanks for the comment!

complete2 - thanks man. I don't have good interior shots yet, but they're about to come. will post them here as soon as I get them.

Dahami - Dude, I love your inventive enthusiasm. I will have to consult you for the next one!! There were so sudden deadlines and requirements to hit here, that we didn't have the luxury to think this through... Will definately do with the next one... cheers, mate!

Deadly Freeze - cheers, man! Will show interior shots as soon as I get some good ones..
