quickly blocked out an idea for a car design.... for covering large expanses of flat terrain at high speeds... the details of the concept aren't here, its just an hour or two of blocking in general shapes and then i intend to throw in details and do paintovers followed by HIGH POLY (like seriously, full on detail! no messing )
Please let me know what you think sucks and if there is anything that i should continue exploring.

Wow this looks really awesome! looks like a pretty original design to me. can't wait to see what it looks like when it's rendered with texture.
I can't really tell, but there's a suspension system and exhaust somewhere right?
You might want to clean up the top line of the design (I think this is called an "A" line), there's a lot of bumps and ridges for something meant to be fast... in fact, there are probably too many undulations and bumps overall... not enough streamlining.

great feedback dude! will be streamlining the overall look in the paintovers... and damned god point about the A line... it currently would produce a lot of drag...
in terms of exhaust... i dont want it to be a conventional car.... something more economic and techy... running without the standard fuel necessities like a diesel engine, but maybe hydrogen or some other clean fuel!
suspension will be techy also and mainly integrated into the actual wheels with shocks mainly... the idea is this is for some desert / salt plain planet where there are massive expanses of completely flat land for this thing to cruise across from outpost to outpost!

right, did some tightening and variations this morning... so here are the results
want to make the suspension system and chassis adustable... its going to be a headache, but it shouldn't be a major problem... its just trying to satisfy the overally aesthetic with the functionality that will giving me some dilemnas

of 1 and 2 which one has the most interesting scaling... and keep in mind this will decide the overall size of the car as the scale will be adjusted to fit a pilot... or possibly make it a two seater like a jet fighter!

very nice and very cool. i really like this and i wouldn't complain about anything if it wasn't for your design brief, so, heres just some food for thought...
to be honest, to me, it looks like a really fast go cart/buggy made for sharp cornering and coner speeds. whitch is cool, but, things made for highspeed long distances tend to be long and thin. The wheels are way to wide for this purpose. large surface contact provides lots of grip for cornering, fast acceleration and decceleration but creates lots of drag at highspeed. for high speed purposes the wheels would either need to be partly enclosed, or very thin as high grip isn't so much of an issue when crusing at high speed....Until you need to brake hard or turn sharply.
I searched google for land speed record and found these...
I searched 'fast vehicle' for this...
if you want to maintain the grip levels it would be super cool if the wheels could change width for higher speeds and seperate (like in your last update) for slower speeds and higher maneuverability. just an idea.

Of the last two designs, I like #1 best. The longer window(?) makes it look more like a small car and not a spaceship. With the air intakes and general frame so extremely low, you'd need totally flat mirror roads to drive it... It looks cool, but even a small rock could destroy it in high speeds.. think formula one.
I like the soft shapes, and the later designs are much better aerodynamically than the first iterations. Looks like, at least, what do I know.
definately number 1, as Ragathol says it keeps the proportions tight and compact which matches the wide stance of the thing. keep going!

Thanks for taking the time to collect reference and show it! really helpful. You are 100% right. I will try and bring down the surface contact of wheels, but the general shape will stay. the logic behind it is there will be little turbines providing downforce inbetween the wheels, and the new age engine will be ridiculously overpowered. i want the thing to handle corners, so thats why its a little wide at this point
due to the response of yourself and others, i'll be developing 1 (although the image at the end is actually neither based on 1 or 2 (dont ask. just started painting)
hey that looks awesome mate, all I can see is it could maybe do with a fin or a spolier for downforce. either way it looks sweet!
I think it would be really awesome if the wheels were rings wrapped over each other to make orb like tires. It would provide good grip and traction.
Don't know if you're looking to change your wheels anymore, but, just saying I think it would be neat.
I've come here a little late, but my first impression was that the intake exhausts were way too low. You said the vehicle was for vast open terrain, and that usually means dusty flats. The front wheels would do nothing but send dust into the intake, clogging up the engine quick. I cant tell if you've eliminated the intake in your latest image, but it might add a measure of toughness to have them located above and forward of the rear wheels, but still behind the cockpit. I personally (and thats not worth a lot) had a hard time following your design updates until the last few. I liked Number 1 best and I really liked the marker sketch with the added detail. I look forward to seeing the final draft of this design. Keep up the great work.

I have been on holiday but have finally got back into the car.
The priority now is to go back and work out the silhouette forms... its pretty drab right now, so i want it to work even if it was just an outline... i have some ideas for how im going to do this, but as always.. suggestions welcomed

if you intend for this to go offroad, it shouldnt sit low to the ground like a lamborghini
