Ok, here is(almost) final image, + process shots and sketches, and pilot/mecha sheet
what can I say - theres a reason this thread is five stars (and now with 5 from me too). Great work. I like your enviro's but your mech designs are also pretty cool! And the sheer volume of work in this sketchbook is something to be proud of. Keep on doing what you're doing and I'll be back to check out more updates!
I like the last one really much, it looks cool
Terrific stuff! I just went through your whole SB after seeing some of your stuff in the CHOW, just terrific! I think what facinates me is not your style as much as your process. Very innovative working your matte painting techniques into other kinds of paintings. I saw you talking about posting up some brushes a while back-is that still happening soon? Would love to try out some of the crazy textures. Keep up the good work!
awesome updates as allways..
well the thing i allways wonder is where to start.. start with a shitload of knowledge off anatomy or just start doing stuff from mind even with anatomical errors..
as i think i can draw a bit from what i can see, or what i can study from photo's.. but the hardest part is to draw from imagination ? is that just a process just like getting used with oils ? like just the more u do it the better u get.. well i guess thats that too.. but im just wondering how to start with imaginational drawings... or just use refs.. in let ur imagination go on it after..
give me homework! and ill massage ur balls ;P imaginationary lol.
@shadowstalker, thanks man
@Vritra, ty man, ha ha
@oma, well i hope i can answer you this question. I am talking from my experience.
Sometimes i start with photo, sometimes just with texture(painting some colors on canvas etc.), sometimes i go with sketch, or shapes. Depends in what mood i am.
You can always use photo as reference for something you want to but can't express from head(photos are good to see how things, like light/shadows/color, appear in real life- presuming you want something realistic).
In some examples i start from photo, then just let go my imagination paint from base i already created(i see some new stuff in it and let my mind go wild). If you have time take a look some previous pages of sb, i have posted some progress shots.
Lately i have started to learn anatomy, so i can be able to draw human figure from head, to be less dependent of photos.
Best advice i can give you is just to relax, don't think to much that your work needs to look good, just play with it.
Also very good thing on this forums is chow, or any other of weeklys, you get good topic, and then just practice.
hope this helps
Wow, I really like the latest one. Interesting creepy design and the colors are very cool. And he is kinda transparent! That's awesome. One thing though, I think his right leg is a little too long, or maybe it's just me.
What do you do for a living, Mateja? Keep up the fantastic work!
I love that mega robot, thanks for putting the desigh stages etc up, it really helps me to see how you decent folks do things LOL. Thanks for posting and I love the work, I would even BUY a copy of that dead megazord!! my kids were into power rangers for ages, and ye gods I was sick of it ha ha ha ha.
all the best mate and keep up the good work
A great kind hearted lumbering bullock
