These are some of the first real decent character concepts I've rendered in some time. I hope you enjoy them
Very Aeon Flux:ish, I like the first one especially. The whole lower body looks excellent, the face and shoulders could need some refinement though. You should define the face with some more confident strokes, and look at how the shoulder muscles, clavicle and neck really works. You could also put at least on of those guns at an angle, so it reads like a 3d object instead of a 2d drawing. And you need to work on your hands, they look really sloppy compared to the rest of your pieces.
thanks I've been out of concept art for a little while and I really need to start attending life drawing classes again. it's been nearly 3 years since I've been to one T_T
I've been using the Life drawing excuse for a while, I even live a few miles from a studio that has them. But if you don't FORCE yourself to go, you never will. Speaking of, "Note to self, go back to life drawing classes, check." But really, there are references all over the place for you to draw inspiration from and also reference. Magazines, photos, people at the bus stop, people you work with, people at lunch. Everywhere. One of the things I started to do whenever I didn't have my sketch pad, was just LOOK at people. Watched the way they moved, talked, turned their head. Of course people began to get weirded out with me staring at them, but whatever, (*in the voice of a Spartan*)this is ART! Remember, Art without Fear, is Art with no limits.
yeah, I try to have a more stylized way of drawing the human figure, I might be distorting it a bit too much sometimes though.
The style looks quiet fresh. I like how you render the figures in such a stylised fashion. But the lack of feet can be a bit fatal at times. It didn't quiet kill your art, it's fantastic, but it sends the message "Oh, this guy can't draw feet" to the viewers brain. Try and make plenty of room for your figures and always attempt drawing as much as you can. Show off your ability to it's fullest! Other then that these characters look awesome. Keep it up
"Battle not with monsters lest ye become a monster also"
thanks I'm bad about not sizing the characters right when I put them on paper. I'm trying to sketch out the whole figure before detailing now just for that reason.
I've actually been a fan of Aeon flux since it first was aired on liquid television.
It became a big influence on my style.
I have a number of influences though, two of which being H.R. Giger and Frank Frazetta.
