Heres some stuff i just got back from my school should have rememberd to take photos befor being sent away
And this is one im working on right now trying something new with the acrylics by washing a thin layer on after blocking in some color to give it smoother gradiations WIP
O sorry these photos suck so much
Hey dude, I think you could use to keep up with the studies.. your sense of style and colour are pretty good, and once you start to get the structure right underneath everything you will improve leaps and bounds. Keep on truckin!
umm i really wana relearn anatonomy but i need better books, anyone know any good downloadable or any good sites/links to basic proportions of faces and other human parts... and i already have loomis but its kind of too complex to just practice its more for like a prolonged study
Hey man, i took a quick look to your book. You have plenty of stuff going on, that's great. I saw your studying loomis, that's something you should keep at it, definitely. Learn the planes, and how to use the basic shapes to construct your forms and figures, so you'll find more easy to resolve the different angles and positions of the head, like the one above.
About the anatomy books, i guess loomis is great for proportions, anatomy, basic shapes, but you can complement it with gottfried bammes which i guess is way more complex than loomis, paul richer for anatomy plates or maybe Burne Hogarth. You should give it a try and see what you can learn.
from what you have in your hands.
Ok well iv been doing a ton of anatomy work so ill get better at figure work but i left it all in the car so ill up load it tomorrow os ill just add a drawing for an AP class and maby some paintings. and hope fully since their still WIP's i can get some crits befor i finish them soo post away.
This is one of my final projects thats due befor school starts but umm im being lazy and waiting till the last min i know if i get some crits on it maby ill work on it more i know thats bad
Absolutely great stuff here Demo! So much different stuff. Good life studies and drawings from your mind. Your pencil rendering skills is your strong point. So now get to work on those weak areas and do more anatomy and life drawing.
Here's link for Loomis books: http://acid.noobgrinder.com/Loomis/
The fur in ur last painting is way to hard-edged!!
I know that when u look at a cat for instance u see billions of little hard edged hairs but as an artist u've got to bow down to nature and try to synthesize what u see to make it recognizable to the viewer as best as u can!
Try to paint fur from life or photo and im sure ull learn alot.
Also, looking at how other artists u like do it, is a very good thing.
For instance look at how D.Sillustration rendered that teddy bear.
The paintings from imagination are the result of creativity having fun with the different "files" u have in ur visual library.
Obviously if ur library is empty, then painting from imagination will hardly be succesful for u.
alright demo here it is. first of all, good effort. i forget who said it but it goes something like this, in your life as an artist you'll probably have a thousand bad pieces but the key to becoming a great artist depends on you getting those pieces out of your system. i have lived by this over the past couple of years. esentially it comes to practice, practice like you there's no tomorrow. all this stuff will snap into place and one day you'll be like "damn, i have grown so much as an artist".
as for a crit, lots of your stuff has potential, but lacks experience and technical ability =more studies and more drawing. when you do studies *don't stop looking at what you drawing*. you can see it the easiest in the painting you did of that girl in the photo. i can see where you weren't looking and where you were. painting in gray scale might help to, it's pretty hard to be focusing on ten things like painting color composition etc etc at once so why not minimize it. and also do some master studies they will help so much with colors. now to leave on a good note, the car study you did is great. lighting is good and the minimalist rendering is very accomplished. gj. later, and i hope this helps.
It would be foolish to restate what has already been said...so...just keep pushing...things are already looking better...I like the colors that you chose for the graphic work in#35...and the two acrylics are looking good..keep it up
your work shows A LOT of promise. i can tell you like digging in and working on details. thats always a good thing. however, you need to work more on developing good forms, some of them look awkward. a good way to go: general to particular. in other words, basic forms to super details...without to within.
the best practice is drawing from life. just keep drawing.
rock on dude!
Tooled yah Iv heard that befor but i dont consider all my earlier pieces as bad, their kind of just stepping stones twordes better pieces but i still love every piece that i do. but i totally get what your saying and theirs allways more to learn and more detail you can add to something
thanks for posting
()nionwell of cours dont plan on ending any time soon thanks for the post
risingfromashes yep acrylics are a very diverse medium and im just starting to delve into what you can do with them thanks
PeetaerThanks its always good to hear and yah somtimes rather we like to hear it or not basics is something that can always make or break a piece
Well iv been to lazy on my AP work and all iv done today is work on my CHOW so if any one else could help heres the 2 directions im going
awesome rendering skills with the pencil. You're not afraid to go dark, which is a great thing. :]
I like that painting of the flowers on the first page, tells me that you have a good eye for color and know how to paint [well!]
I suggest to keep those anatomy studies up, you're doing great.
2 out of 4 done another bad pic becaus of small scaner
its kind of a tribuit to my GFs car ill probably add some finishing touches to it befor i turn it in o well 2 more 1 more week
O btw im kind of having problems with this piece after looking at it it kind of seems like it looses focouse between the girl and the car and the captians wheel i think one of these needs to be darker to help emphisis the others but which??? help please
Horray for having my internet back and with it comes an up date bones, studies of Durer, and a studie...sort of...of a piece by andrew jones and iv started a portrate of the day so ill post some of them but their not too good yet but with pratcice.......

o cant forget this i just started this for a school project and i used kind of the same mood as Marcos COW entry so props to him and his colors the projects ofver one of the greek gods so tell me which you think it looks like
Awesome anatomy studies! I've learned quite a lot from them myself.
I don't really have anything to crit except maybe that you should use some harder transitions on your digital faces here and there, the volume isn't quite defined sometimes, especially when it's all blurry.
Horray my painter X finally came and heres some stuff that iv tried so far yah i know these are bad but its my first time on painter and my first enviroment so dont be too harsh
And Kurjuus thanks for the kind words and i kind of understand the blurry part im still learning this digital painting thing but it helps realize part of the problem
heres my latest attempt at painter im comming to the conclusion that im going to need mentoring or something and a little more effort that and iv been working on eyes and other features of the face
o well if you have any painter tips or trix leave emm here
updates are comming but something happend to my scaner so heres more of my greek god project :
ok heres an up date on my Gods and heros project almost done with it
and tomorrow my cintiq 12wx comes so expect a whole lot more digital work

hey demo, really good sketches and postes youve got here.
the paintings remind me just a little like van goh, with the visible brush strokes, keep it up.
the digital stuff is great, it seems like your just now getting familiar with it, pretty soon, youll be fooling everyones eyes. art just an illusion.
best of luck l0stinth0ughts
