lots of studies and improvements in here..keep it up man
DeKal thanks man. coming from you that's really inspirational
decided to bust out the pencils last night and go at it with a robot and see what came out of my head
also threw in some environments as well just for kicks.
also here's a motorcycle i'm working on from photo ref i took MONTHS ago while walking to work.
probably no more than 30mins in, measured once just to make sure parts were in the right places.
your perspective skills have really improved through the pages along with your life drawings, just keep hacking away at the tree of knowledge.
Not sure if your still looking for textures as you mentioned on page 1, if you are here's a cool site - http://cgtextures.com/ - the only hiccup is that you can only download 15MB a day but the textures are very good and include a lot of ref for vehicles and machine parts.
Great updates man, keep at it! Im likin the quick enviros and the lighting effects on the robot.
"From here to the ears and eyes of the 'verse!"
"There are three basic types, Mr. Pizer, the wills, the won'ts, and the can'ts. The wills accomplish everything, the won'ts oppose everything, and the can'ts won't try anything." - Vincent; The Black Hole
Warground Zer0 dude thanks man. that texture website freckin rocks.
AA-ron thanks for your continued support.
hmm. not much to show for. been doing other shit.
yea i know that's not an excuse.
here's some crysis suit variants.
DEFINITELY gonna have to develop the female model. YES
Awsome sketches props.
WHOAH you colored those awesome little thumbs! Sweet! But you should paint on top of the lines too not just under - then even in a small thumb you can get some atmospheric perspective going. Ready for another happy funtime trip to sf this weekend? Didja see Iron Man?
Oh and that cgtextures site, I use that shit all the time - the previews are generally big enough to not even need to download the hi-res.
OmertA thanks man
nonie yea thats a good suggestion. i'll get working on improving those thumbs post haste. Thanks for the support!
nother page of doodles. UH... it's ok to be a Marko clone for a day right?
Yea... funny story about the zombie, he wasn't supposed to be a zombie in the first place.....
and the anatomy on that suit arm is all sorts of wrong. good lord...
anyhow. enjoy. i'll try to put up some other stuff later depending on what i get done.
waaaaaaaaawe good phase of learning
My sketch book
The costume details are all really cool and inventive, but try to think about how your figures balance themselves. The last two look like they'll tip over.
i wish i could draw half has good as you
akiro thanks man. practice at it. with enough dedication and effort anything can be possible.
here's some art.
i have a newfound addiction to Nudibranches. They're fucking crazy and i love them
more on that later. you'll see what i'm talking about
also. here's some colors, and that rendering thing you people love so much.
Maidith thanks! the trick i find to coming up with ideas is really simple. REFERENCE A TON OF REAL LIFE STUFF there's all sorts of cool things in nature that could keep you busy for years trying to analyze and break down. So with something like aquatic ships/machines i'll take a look at fish and try and figure out how a machine would pull off what a mako shark does (for example). Also, sometimes it's just a lot of tweaking an existing design that i liked, there's a lot that has to be said for simple experimentation.
Lastly (but most importantly): never be afraid to try something, if it doesn't work no big deal just give it another shot until you get something that does.
here's some thumbnails. 56 to be exact.
i 'starred' the ones i liked but if you like one more let me know!
i love it so much
Great improvement across your sketchbook - these thumbs of the deep ships are cool - the last chunky one U got marked looks kick ass - maybe a ship like in 5th element?
Sebastianrenaissance thank you sir!
algenpfleger rock on man. yea i'm definitely enjoying how this Deep contest is going, i gotta get back in gear on that for sure.
kidult thanks a lot, and yes i agree i was really liking how the larger more industrial type ships ended up looking.
so it's a big/small update today. The big news is i finally got around to LAUNCHING MY SITE. so you can go over to
somethingaboutrobots.com and check THAT out.
but as far as art goes all i've really got to show for myself is this set of icons as i've been spending all of my time getting this site up and running.
keep it real folks.
Hey there, cool stuff you got going on here. I think you need to pay more attention to the skeletal structure of your figures, a lot of them look floppy.
i enjoy your sketches, they are inspiring
you ships are almost all the same, just with a different width / height, i think you could change them up by using some different shapes. it seems you really like the large windshield that is compltly rounded, possibly drawing some old school jeeps / half ton trucks will give you some different ideas as far as shapes roll.
but good shit, fellow industrial designer =D
Cool sketches! I sort of agree about the ships. It isn't so much that they are the same size/shape, but you are using those little rectangle wingy things on every single design. Try moving away from a single useful design motif, and really push the shapes. Think of space-only ships; they don't have to be aerodynamic. A flying box is every bit the same as the most streamlined jet you'd ever see in space.
