Nice body of work you've got in here. . . I actually didn't think all of your old stuff sucks btw (as you say in your first post). There's definately some little gems there too.
However, you've improved with leaps and bounds! Lots of improvements on your colours, general anatomy, understanding of form, good stuff! Keep up the great work! More!
hot damn that pencil stuff is ridiculously awesome! Keep it up dude!
not perfect, but ive invested enough tim on this that im gonna call it done. some minor adjustments with a free transform or a move would make it close to exact, but im still gona avoid those shortcuts. here it is tho. moving on.
my work on this weeks chow so far. dreamweaver with sandman and the nightmare hag.
crits welcome, tryin to go for a weird etereal ruinjia/amano thing. a little toooooo ruanjia at the moment, well see how it goes.
Your digital figure paintings are very nice! Great weighty, fleshy figures with good personality. Your fantasy drawings are pretty intense as well, you're talented in a good range of mediums.
this is awesome. it has alot of potential man, very difficult to do a group shot right. but i like where this ones heading. couple things that stand out to me. for one, i think its too grey overall. needs alot more contrast. i know your still building the values, but i think behind the characters should be pushed to a deeper black or white in certain areas. behind the wizard should be a black i feel like. that way his white beard would jump out more. and behind that orc looking character in the opposite corner could be solid white, or close to it. that way, the bats would jump out alot more, as well as the character. and i think that the image is a bit heavy in the lower left corner. i think if you either got rid of some of the things down there, or if you added some more to the top right under the wizard or something could help to balance it out. hope that helps at all. keep it up man!
I really like where you are progressing with the dreamweaver with sandman and the nightmare hag. It's a great fantasy drawing. I would like to see a bit more contrast and highlights to bring out certain areas. Still very solid work.
Killer sketchbook, man!
The couple dancing is quite amazing! great work!
The Dreamweaver is good. There are lots of things going on there. I like that its looking like some old school illustrations that tells a whole story in a single image.
I like the design of the old lady, but I think the girl in the middle is too small. If she is the main character she should be bigger, or somehow more important on the composition.
Like those Drew Struzan posters, there are usually lots of characters and information, but even if you don't know the story behind the movie, you can't miss who is more important.
But is a great work anyway.
Awesome work man. Your pencil work is great, really cool sense of design in all of them, kind of makes me want to do some more finished work in pencil rather than just anatomy/figure/head studies. You also seem to be getting a better grasp on color in these last studies when compared to the first one or two you did. You're pretty much nailing them.
Nice work on the CHOW, everyone already basically said the thoughts I had. To have a lot more contrast in your values, although it looks like you're in the stage where you're currently just mapping out the image in more simple values. Also I feel like there isn't a solid focal point, and I agree with what someone said about possibly making the girl larger and making her the focal point as the lead character, and having the other two become secondary. I also kind of like the WIP you posted before the last. The last one feels a bit too zoomed out to me. Either way man, looking forward to seeing it finished. Great work.
Looks real nice, man. Can't wait to see it with some colors. One thing I'd keep in mind would be to not fill the entire canvas with complex shapes, you'd generally want somewhere where the eye can rest a bit, and also areas of complexity vs. areas with less can be a nice contrast.
Keep up the good work, man and I'll see you on the stream tomorrow.
Hey Dan, your chow came out great in the end, it's cool that you pushed yourself to do all three characters as well, nice work. Thanks also for giving me a mention on the stream even though I didn't submit this month, you had some great advice for everyone and I appreciate the time you, Dave and Brad put into doing them.
I like your work, your characters are cool Also, keep it up with livestream, it really helped me by far (and shure a good amount of other people).
