Oh I nearly forgot. I painted my brothers face for halloween. He couldnt wear a mask but he was allowed to wear facepaint to work. I like how he looks super angry without even having to frown haha

Here is a fullpage ad I am just about finished. I did a lot of it in 3dmax and even made the initial character (the orange one) in 3d. The light bulbs I painted in and added the other effects and whatnot to it. It was a fun ad and a challenge. Im sure it could be better and I aim to figure out how.

Here are some inkblots I did for fun. I thought this may be a fun way to find some interesting shapes and inspiration. Feel free to play with them, if you find anything you like please show me by posting what you do with it I am working on the second set now. I am altering the images of the inkblots so they are presented nicely.

Most Excellent Idea !!

What a great concept, honest. This would be a great one for contests or something. I like the idea of seeing what others could do with them. Whether they use all of them or just one. I do believe you have come up with a great idea, either way or whatever...

awesome sketchbook, only 3 pages for now and still it's already full of so many inspiring images, what can i say - thank you, dude

btw, i love your ernest rendition, my favourite from the series was "...goes to jail", always cracked me up

also, i'm a sucker for life drawings, so more of that please

can't give you any crits really, your far better than i am right now, only thing i can tell you is take it to the next level and spend more time on your drawings and refine them, but then again, this is a sketchbook and not the finally finished section so, just keep it up

and you mentioned your old sb (and taking your post count into account), can i take it that you've already spend many many hours on the basics like anatomy and figure drawing?

cheers, dave

Thanks Ivan

Thanks Zaimfull

Thank you Moving Pictures . I work as a freelance graphic designer and illustrator for a living so most of my time creating is focused there and exploring creativity. I realized recently that I should get more fundamental things understood more clearly like life drawing and anatomy. I have begun focusing more attention and energy into this. I am not certain how to memorize the muscles and structure of the human figure but I intend to find out. I may need to look at it in a new way because my old way seems to be insufficient. I maybe need to buckle down and study like in class...

That is my favorite ernest movie also. None of the others captured him quite the same haha. What a fun character. i get so nostalgic thinking about it I will def do more life drawing! I do need to practice. I have some sketches I should post, for now heres a page.

I thought I would post a new sketchpage. Did this inbetween stuff and it was fun. All from imagination, not that there is a whole lot of imagination in there lol. It was more for fun playing with the nib pen.

ok well conceptart.org image uploading is not working right now so ive uploaded it to my server.

nice one, like the dude with the hat and the one beneath him with the curly hair almost looks like grey/black watercolor, so is it?

DAAAAAAAAAMNNNNNNNNN your sketchbook is my favourite right now! That facepaint job is excellent, one of the best I've ever seen. I'm definitely inspired to draw more today

About that Lightin' ain't Easy picture, maybe it would be better if you darkened the background/edges a little to help focus on main characters better. I find those two chairs on the bottom distracting.

Finished another sketch page today. 2 references of Clint Eastwood and two references of Charlie Chaplin. Then a few random ones.

Yes Moving pictures. Its watercolor mixed with ink actually. I use Nibs and paint brush. I am going to introduce pencil I think and see how the process goes. Ive always loved pen and ink but when I figured out watered down ink I really found a groove. Theres something about it that gets me lost in it so well. I dont know how else to explain it haha. I feel very lost when using it, in a good way.

Thank you Donna Thanks very much about the paintjob. I did it 30 min before my brother had to leave for work lol so I know I could have done better. Your right about the lightin aint easy picture. There are logos that go on the bottom, they werent included in that image. THat helps with the distraction. I think I may darken some of those elements to focus it more in the focal point. I may even blur the foreground a bit too.

Here is an ink of Charlie Chaplin. I drew it out in pencil first this time so that I got the proportions and everything correct when I inked and watercolored it. It wasnt serious. More of a fun sketch.

cool updates, like the charlie chaplin one very much if you did the shading with pencil you'd still be on it right now, haha - that's what keeps me from doing larger pencil pieces, don't have time for the shading but thanks for telling us your technique, gotta try that out myself one time, looks really really good

I was sorting through my piles of stuff lying around and found one of my latest sketchbooks. These tend to get dropped and go missing quick if Im not keeping track of them hehe. I found one of the last pages I had drawn when I was in my BRIGHT COLORS phase hehe. I use crayola markers for them. I like using the washable kind because you can put down some color, then take a brush and some water and push the ink around. They were made that way so parents could undo childrens artistic graffiti but I found they work well like this. ALmost like watercolor in pen form. They are also really awesome because the vibrancy of their colors is amazing. Watercolors dont match up to me.

Here a few late night additions. The first is a set of monkeys that I cropped smaller than the full size. The faces just started as sketches and I tried to make them look slike one was hanging on the other. I was watching a BBC documentary on monkeys at the time . The next is the fullsheet of water color paper that includes the last charlie chaplin I did. Im trying to show more of the real size. It contains a bunch of characters and people I painted for study purposes.

Hey there again. Finished a new sheet. This one I had a lot of fun with. I decided to try doing a tiger and am pretty stoked on the results. I sketched it out. Painted in the lightest values first then another darker layer. Then I put in a bunch of the deepest blacks throughout, finishing the rest after. Then went on the in between values to spend my budget. The characters I did based on images I found and thought would make for good practice and would fit in my arrangements.

Here is a new inking I did today. Did this of arnold in a pose where he looks huge. Went too fast on the my sketching cause i was so eager to start painting that his right arm isnt as big as it should be. Specifically the bicep.
