Cow Arrowroot Newbie Sketch Dump

So I've been contemplating uploading here for a long time but have just been waaaaay too nervous because everyones art work on here looks absolutely astounding to me!

But you know what, how else am i going to improve if I don't share my in progress sketches and doodles.

I'll try and post at least once a week over the summer, but no promises.
Most of the time my sketches are completely incoherent and random, every now and then there will be a thumbnail or something along those lines.

I'll try and remember to upload my digital stuff here too as I do need a LOT of help with my digital stuff
anyhoos... enough rambling... heres some art...

i've compiled a whole bunch of recent sketches together in this one big image, some are just from imagination, some are initial sketches for some larger projects and there is a few studies of my house mates limbs.

Hopefully I will be digging out my books and doing some arm studies this week as im absolutely useless at those.

I have been however trying to do a little work on hands. I've also just got some idle doodles.

Some random digital colour sketches inspired by a movie... that i can't tell you what it is otherwise it would ruin the ending 8D

people who may know what movie this is keep it to yourselves lol

2 versions because i quite liked both the moods.

Self portrait plus some tonal practice since my black and white work really tends to suck digitally :/

need more practice. And i tried adding colour but had no idea how to pull it off correctly... any tips?

Hey Arrowroot cool to see you decided to start a sketchbook here, There is no need to be nervous, I means whats the worst some one can say? your shit give up =) meh I tell myself that all the time already =) and at very least its a cool little source of inspiration like oo I might spend a little bit extra time on this sketch so I don't look too sucky when I post in my sketch book. O and post alot more its hard to give critique until you can see range of work of where the person is at . http://conceptart.org/forums/attachm...1&d=1247341403 I enjoyed this sketch you get a good idea of what type of charter she is.

thank you for commenting back :3 and for the compliment :3 and the tips of course! I've been silently lurking through so many peoples sketchbooks here that I am inspired to try some of their exercises out. Hopefully I start pumping out a larger amount of work soon :3

not sure why you're degrading yourself- your stuff is really nice. well, u need some practice but who doesn't? i would advise u to study a bit of anathomy( it's boring but it helps a lot- u'll see) even for drawing cartoons and stuff. btw i like that cartoonish style of yours, so keep it up!

thanks all for comments guys :3
I am going to be working on some arm anatomy studies today. But for now heres this...

I know I know ewww furry.
Just for a bit of fun and an experiment. This was really one of those doodles that just got carried away with.

I roughed it out in Open canvas and then did tweaking in Photoshop and then more coloring in painter. I am new to painter so i really enjoy experimenting with it.

I want to go back to this one and re do the eyes as they look squiffy and I don't like the shape/style of them. i also want to try and re do the bottom half around the arms/hands as that also doesn't really make sense. And just in general try and tighten the image up.

Heres another colour practice. I Did not draw this. A friend of my uploaded this in a sketch dump (http://caden13.deviantart.com ) and i just loved the sketch so much I decided to have a go at colouring.

I want to go back to this one as well as I have not defined the face well.. where as the boobs came out quite good lol. But yeah I want to re do the face and maybe attempt at turning the sketch a bit more realistic where the eyes and mouth are concerned.
I also need to define the hair a bit more. Make it less messy.
More painter stuff :3

Hey guys... long time on hiatus...

Been busy with getting stuff ready for school among most things.

So finally this year we are doing more comic book layout stuff. SO I thought I'd share a little bit. I'm still really dodgy with things like perspective but I'm learning.

Our first couple of weeks was a Cinematic Story Telling Class taught by Ken Steacey :3 he was really awesome for a teacher and look forward to seeing him again next year. I learnt a lot, its a shame didn't have him for longer.

Our first assignment was ''A ____ Walks into A _____ and Meets A ____''

Also i am sorry I don't have a scanner big enough for these 11x17 pages >_<
Also sorry for my dodgy perspective and use of tangents 8D

more comic layout stuff, un-refined sketch on a 5x7 scale, again for school. I have a lot of fun doing this. I will try to scan in some more of these when I get my paws back on them.

Props... something i really struggle with. My perspective really isn't the most amazing in the world. I am trying hard to learn but sometimes I am so pushed for time I really can't watch half the tutorial vids people have laying around.

Maybe once I get my routine more organized I'll have some ''non-school-work'' time to work on my own stuff and further development.
