hey man your sketchbook looks fantastic, your anatomy looks great in some of the sketches. I really like the man playing the banjo, the whole picture has a great composition to it can't wait to see that one painted.
Keep up the great work

its nice to leave constructive encouragement but come on... at least give SOME constructive criticism or you're doing the poster a dis-service...

sorry man, but this type of comment is gonna lead your astray... the truth is, you need to open up an anatomy book and copy from it every night- get yourself signed up in a figure drawing class at a comunity college or art store, as well as attend open figure drawing sessions on the side... your anatomy is just bad news and if you listen to this type of stuff, you'll get complacent...
your colors aren't there, your composition isnt there, and you've got to look past anime or comics to find inspiration. I'll be the first to tell you i've got way too much old junk in my portfolio, but I'm workin' on it and can see my mistakes.. stuff like anatomy and perspective isnt objective, you get that wrong, your portfolio is dead on arrival.

I'm not tryin' to be a jerk, just being honest, and I hope you practice hard and show me up, I just see too many portfolios like this applying for illustrators or concept positions, and I want them to sue their school for giving them a degree when they dont stand a chance in the business...

check out burne hogarth's books as well as bridgeman... and hit up as much life drawing as you can, I dont care if you're 40 or 13, get to a life drawing class asap.

good luck man!

Wow... youre right, youre the first to tell me how it is.... Thanks a bunch , I came to this site for criticism and seeing how I can improve, At least I can look at this and see where i'm really at.

To be honest, I don't plan on getting an illustrators position any time soon, I actually want to improve first. I'm actually starting a life drawing class really soon. As for the books, I borrowed dynamic figure drawing from a library, but I will look into his other books as well.

Once again thanks for the criticisms, most artists either compliment me or don't bother to criticize.

Charcoal

Ink pen/Ink wash

I needed anatomy drawings for my portfolio and I wanted to take Ragnar X's advice, starting with anatomy.

I had to use photo's since I didnt have any models...
