Smile My Very 1st Sketchbook (Update!!!)

Hi I'm from the Philippines. I'm 19 years old and it's my first time here.

Feel free to give me advice about anything. I just love to draw and I don't know the technicalities. I was linked here through Deviantart.

I posted this same thread on Studies but I'd also like to start a diary and these are the sketches I have....I'm not well versed in realism but I really want to be.

I was was awed and inspired at the level artists are at in this site and the concept behind the site. People are so focused and willing to help each other...it was simply wonderful. It would be nice to have a good foundation in drawing. Drawing from life is something I absolutely believe in.

I'd appreciate it if you would take the time to critic me. I'm hungry for it. I absolutely LOVE art and aspire to be the best artist I can be.

Thank you SO much in advanced.

GOD BLESS!!!

Hey Man!
ingat sa pag-galagala! mas safe mag drawing sa bahay!

Nice start! Really! Proportions could use some work, but then, you are young and still have time to correct that issue.
Also, its creeping me out that your thumbnail pic is in a similar theme
to something I posted in my sketchbook ( shameless self plug: check out page 3) . Different but in a similar theme.
Does this mean we think alike? Kinda spooky no?
P.S. You do hair quite nicely!

Anyway, keep posting and I'll be dropping by!

K...Definitely working on that! Proportions are something I've just been recently acquainted with. As for the thumbnail..you may want to visit my Deviantart account..same user name and it contains my more manga like pieces...The thumbnail is named Lazy morning.

Atsaka...batang gala ako di batang gumagala kaya tapos nako dun..LOL

Thanks so much!! GOD BLESS!!

you have something beautiful going on there in the works. I especially like your style and your clean lines; the colors on the first picture is intriguing as well.

Please keep posting, can't wait to see more

some great pics here! I suggest you do some quick drawings o people round and about so that you can improve your anatomy (you use a framework for support - daily practice means you can train your eye to draw without needing it as often) and proportions.

other than that - i love the expressions and characters in these pictures. I will definetly come back here just for the emotion in your works - they are so romantic!

Nice sketchbook so far. I think theres some great stuff in here, though i notice several of the face's proportions are off by just a bit. This is the one that caught my eye: http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...Untitled-2.jpg
Theres just something about it. Maybe the hair has too much volume or the chin is too large. I wouldn't go back and fix it but in the future maybe watch out for such things. anyway, hope that helps. welcome to conceptart.org by the way.

Update Sept. 16

This is a fanart of One piece and Lord of the rings. It's not that realistic but I wanted to unwind. These are all just quick renderings and I still wanna work on this. I know there are lot of things to fix but if you could humor me and point them out, It'll help a lot.

You have beautiful line, thou if proportions aren't entirely correct still every piece looks illustrative. Keep on good work. Found you on dA, got some nice lineworks there.

Okay. I would suggest putting more contrast in some of your drawings done on colored paper. Don't be afraid to put in some darker darks and lighter lights.

It's best to think of how you want to distribute your values in an image. Try having at least 3-4 values in your pictures. It can add interest, depth, contrast, etc

wow, awesome sketchbook you've got going here! Not much to crit really you've got everything down pretty well- lines are great, values seem spot on. I guess proportions could do with a little work but they're mostly accurate. I would just be a little bit careful about becoming too mangaish (you know what I mean hah!) It just seems to me like you're too good an artist for it although to be honest thats just a matter of taste.

Anyways... awesome work, KEEP POSTING!

Thanks for that. As for being mangaish, that's why I'm here...I'd like to learn realism. I'm afraid my only teacher is myself, life, and this site . Never had an art class ...I hope you guys could help with that. Also I hope could you recommend what kind of classes and schools I should go to? There are no schools in my country for serious art. The classes I'm looking is just so I can build a portfolio to possibly apply for scholarship? Is that possible? ^^ Or even just getting in the said school..

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Hi, I'd like to help you out here. I really suggest that you read Andrew Loomis' books. I'm not sure if you know him, but he's a famous illustrator from 20th century who wrote six books about drawing and painting. The great thing about that is that you can download all of 'em in this link I'm about to give you. The file is a bit big ( about 1gb in size) because it also contains other books about drawing. You'll need to download a bit torrent program to download all the books.

This is the link to the file: http://www.mininova.org/tor/1810537

CA's tutorial, tips and tricks section is also an incredible source for information. Let me give you a couple of links to get you started.

Check out all of the other 5 star threads in that section.

This is much better than wasting your money on our crappy art education.

Have fun!

yay for HP fanart! *hides from the rest of the world*
again, gorgeous emotion throughout these pieces. You're getting a little repetetive in the faces you use, you manage to pull off masculinity ok but could do with further studies like the homeless man to drive thepieces home!

I really like your line-quality! Your characters have some irresistible charm. Love those cartoony-like pieces. Some more practise and you will become fantastic illustrator. Take care!

Been sketching....

Hey guys XD Sorry this is batang-gala's younger sister. My sis has been busy so yeah she doesn't have time to update. She told me post stuff from her recent sketches so here...Please assist my sister ^_^

So here's some info about some of the pics...

1) My sis says it's Ginny and her son
3) It's a fanart of the anime, Escaflowne. Should the ending be continued this is her sketch.
4) All I know is that she was watching the anime One Piece while sketching it. So it should explain the pirate-ish theme.
8 ) This is a fanart of Harry Potter. So that's Snape ^^
9) That's also a Harry Potter fanart. That's Hermione and Ron.

I like the faces on some of these! I really like the mother playing with her son. You have a couple of proportion errors but overall the drawing is pretty good.

Drawing lang ng drawing!
