Ok a brief introduction, Architect student currently situated in Edinburgh Scotland. In Forms online course, and decided to start a sketchbook. My skills are highly limited so its gonna be a bit of exploration.
Will post drawings aswell as photoshop studies as often as i remember it!
Today was my first attempt to make speed paintings useing custom brushes and going all mental first before deciding what i could make the picture into.. used 20 minutes on each image.
going crazy with brushes is fun but watch out, set up a composition first by blocking in shapes, it will really help to lead the eye, at this point my eye doesnt know where to look because its one huge mix of brushes XD hope it helps
other than that nice start! hope form's mentoring helps you
Viran is right on the money with his comment. Don't take this to mean you shouldn't experiment with brushes and learn everything you can about them. They're indispensible if you're going to go pro but you as an artist shouldn't ever need more than a couple of hard brushes.
Also you're an architect student, maybe you're using this to get away but I would love to see some architecture here! If all you're doing is a dump to relax than please ignore my comments, I love to play around with brushes myself.
I am working on a storyboard atm, and that was one of the reasons i tryed some cutom brushes, seeing i got like 40-50 images to do, i wanted to speed up the process.
What do you guys think of this sketch, its basicly a guy walking through a crowded city street in the rain(The umbrellas was important for the director):
i really like ur pics nonetheless coz of its style. even though its a bit hard to gain an understanding or wateva of it its something good to see bu dont ignore previous posts about composition.
also storyboard is looking pretty funky but i think a few clearer strokes would do good, but good job.
Check out my SKETCHBOOK ...looking for helpful advice!
Working on a design of a Sci-Fi train station, will update when i start working in Photoshop. Here are some sketches i have done. Will most likely go for the last one
since you say so rob ill do it added the castle during night, and the castle in ruins..
Also posted an update on one of the sketches in my previous post
thank you Jorge Gecov and TheBeast
Here is an update on the B&W in previous post, trying to establish what i want with the image ... hehehe The white thing on the bottom with the tiny people is a train
Ok i went crazy for a while there, Trying to mess up the train station into a tokyo/shanghai kind of looking place, with neon signs and market everywhere..
comments critts would be helpfull here
Back after a nice holliday

Very nice environments!
Maybe try using textures to make it look more realistic.
All critics/comments are much appriciated
ohh have forgotten to update here it seems like
1. Design idea for a residential living area in Fountain Park, Edinburgh. Part of a french competition. basicly a paintover on a picture. The "green" part and the buildings behind it was not there before, was a big factory
2. EOW (almost got a vote) and part of Forms Environment class
3. Color studies done today
4. Some composition study/ color studies done a few days ago
Some nice stuff here man! - Maybe try some more contrast in your values it will really make your work pop out!
cool sketches mate, these are my fav.:
keep practice, can't wait to see more stuffs!
Looking great. I really like those storyboards, good compositions and values. Station concept has some perspective issues, you might want to check the left vanishingpoint. And a little tip for making neon-signs and other light sources: Turn your brush mode to Color Dodge and choose a dark saturated color. Really worth testing. Anyway, you´ve got good stuff here, so keep em going.
Here is a painting i did listening to Kingdom of Heaven OST - Crusaders. Wanted to paint the feeling as the sun goes down in the desert. Experimented with color, and shadow colors
"the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him. And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden." GENESIS 4:19
Thank you Will post up some architect work possibly tomorow if i find time to scan it, hehe
Here is sketches for a building design, painted in painter.. Not much experience with it.
ohh well. Did a two hour painting after looking on Idiot Apathys Webpage There where some interesting movie about environments, so i got highly inspired! thanks man!!
