Here's a new one. Not that impressive though
hey Vimmel, welcome to the boards.
as far as crits, you tend to draw the fingers really long. as a general rule for me, the middle finger is about as long as the palm of the hand, and the shape of the hand itself is not as square is you may think. i would really like to see those pencil sketches of yours, hopefully you can get a scanner soon. anyways. hope this helps, and i'm sure there are other people here who can explain it better than me.
nice start though!
@oddjob: Thanks for the advise man I made some new sketches that looks better I think. I personally like the right one best.
Edit: I use a boxmethod for the hands, I really enjoy that. I just love my new tablet. ^^
Oh, and I forgot to mention that I really like long fingers.

Hey! Made some almost full bodys. Tried to rig it with tubes and it seems to work out pretty well. Just need some more practice to perspective. Well, I need more practice to everything ofcourse.
I need some advise and what I need to improve.
In the picture: The left one was my first attempt to draw a full body, I kinda like hes face, and the right one is going to be used in a scene, hopefully, either as an old man or some kind of creature/alien with a cane or staff.
This is actually my first real attempt to draw a full body and Im pretty proud of myself Looks better than I expected.
Hope you like it. Critiques and comments are most welcome.
Heres a small update. Ive been sick and totally out of shape to do anything.
Well, I tried some coloring and stuff. I actually like this fellah. I need some advise on folds and coloring.
Hes gonna be some kind of shaman or something, and hes reaching for some kind of magical plant. Hes gonna have a staff in hes right hand also.
Yeah, so I finished it. For the first time in my life I actually finished something. I cant say that Im not a little proud of myself as I think it turned out pretty well
So here it is. Tell me what you think!

Hey man, I guess no one wishes to give you some heavy critique.. But I will!
First off you need work on Anatomy bad, You are confusing yourself with digital and figure drawing when you do not even have a ground to walk on! Meaning you need foundation to do figure drawing, as in basics and advanced anatomy along with shape. Listen, Every artist goes through that period where they need improvement, or that hump you need to get past when you first start off drawing. I know this sound crazy and time consuming but if you work on the subjects I will discuss shortly you will be rewarded with much more imagination, and you will actually be able to draw in a "FANTASTIC" Way lol, anyway you want!
Start here: Find a reliable source of Anatomy, work it to the bone! Skeleton and muscle structure included of course! Learn the shapes and the way the muscle move along with the skeleton, flextion/extension for instance. if you have trouble with the whole body do studies on individual parts like the arm. After you do this for a few months put it to use on simple gestures, than move on to fleshed out gestures, meaning using the shapes you learned to add muscle to your simple/educated Gesture. There is no secret to drawing great, only time. Good luck! I hope I helped you.

Just take up a life drawing class, get some books on Anatomy. A lot of people Like Loomis to start off with, there is also burne hogarth, Its really who you like more. I recently acquired a loomis Book and I must say he is interesting, he explains things good.
No problem for the help, I firmly believe every artist should help out each other, especialy on a site like this.. Some people just dont care though, dont let it get to you man, keep it up and continue to go after your dreams!
Thanks alot again Jay, Ill be going strait down to the library tomorrow
I was watching some of Loomis books on the net and they seems to be really great. Im sure gonna read them! And I have to check out this Hogarth fellah
I will keep this thread updated with some anatomy study, you can always swing by from time to time if you want!
Thanks for your support!
Sure! It is always awesome to see an artist improve!! One of the great bennefits of this site.
I, thanks to Jay_Gunz, dragged my butt to the library and found some of Loomis books to study some anatomy. I have to say; WOW, really great books! Ive done some reading and some sketching. Im pretty slow since Im still working on a better technique with my Volito2. Any advice would be appriciated
So, heres some of my sketches. Please tell me whatyou think!
those figures are coming on well, a life drawing class would really help you
That is a huge improvement already! Well done. All I can say is that you should keep at it, because you obviously have the ability, you just need the knowledge (which you're gaining already) and the confidence to keep at it. It's pretty daunting at first, I know. I started learning anatomy etc (from Loomis books) just over a year ago, and while I've still got a way to go, my art has improved dramatically and it's well worth the effort. Keep it up
Thanks alot Donut! Ive always known that Ive got the potential to draw, I just need practice and alot of it! I looked at your sketchbook and wow, your really good! I read that you dont have any access to any drawing classes. Me neither!
I am also selftought and now Im learning from books and stuff
@hedwordup: Thanks for the comment man. I dont have any access to drawing classes so I have to stick to the books and forums :/
Thanks My entire family draws pretty much, so I've been encouraged my whole life. I've only taken it seriously recently and I'm so glad I have cause I love it I'm gonna start looking for life drawing classes I think, it looks like you can learn a whole lot more from them than books and the internet. Until then, I'll stick to stealthily drawing my friends haha
Ooh, I'm liking what I see the arms and hands are especially good (I suck at arms/hands..) and the eyes are coming along nicely, keep it up!
i can really see that your style is going to start to develop.
lots of improvements already. iv just started on hogarth and loomis books because my anatomy also sucks!
keep posting il be watching.
p.s. nice arm studies from loomis!
ok here's what i suggest you do, find a photo of a face and draw it. BUT while doing so, draw on another paper studies, like where is the eye placed in comparison to the nose and mouth, a lot of studies like that anbd then draw on the "pretty" drawing.
Your anatomy knowledge needs a boost. It's very "wonkey" and needs to sharpen up before someone watching your art can truly apriciate your designs etc.
keep on working though, you're doing great

I've been slacking some with the sketching. Ive been sketching some in my "smokebook" which is the sketchbook in my kitchen where I smoke Too bad I dont have any scanner
This little update is just some face practice and a doodle. Check for yourself.
thedonut: Thanks alot for the support! and oh yes, ofcourse I'll keep it up
devbot: Thanks for the swingby, hope Ill see your name more often Ive checked your sketchbook too, nice works!
hurricane: Hey thanks alot for the advise! As you can see Ive been practicing on what you told me to (if I got that right). Its really fun! Im practicing everything as hard as I can. I tend to lose my inspiration pretty quick so most of the times Im just drawing in like 30-60 min. I just hate that so much
Well, heres the update!
I'm liking your eyes and the teeth are looking good too! C'mon, keep it up
I was wondering where you'd got to Hello again! Thanks for your comments
How do I keep drawing? I just love doing it. It's a habit, I don't think a day's gone by for me when I haven't picked up my sketchbook and had a scribble. When I was first learning, it was more difficult because I couldn't get anything down that I wanted to. It's a case of perseverance really. I still can't get things down just how I like but I'm vaguely happy at least, so the frustration goes and it's just fun. And seeing myself get better is pretty rewarding too, even if it is slow going haha
Just keep at it, you're talented, it shouldn't take you long to get to the point where you're happy with your stuff and you won't be able to stop yourself from drawing
