here is a plague witch i have been working on today, I feel like it needs lots of work especially in the "depth" or lighting. Any tips or suggestions to help me get a realistic lighting, also I am horrible with any type of color theory, so let me know if i made any horrible mistakes in that department.
I'm colorblind, so I can't offer any help on the colors there, but it looks like the eyes are flattening the whole image out. If anything, I'd say work on them, try to get them to wrap around the face more.
The background colour looks nice, but the composition of the character and the background is not that good because the top area is too empty and tell nothing. If u are planing to have only one colour as your background try to put your character in the middle. If u plan to have the character as you have done try to put in some background.
ok excellent thanks for the tips .
The composition is off. You've framed her in such a way that nothing of interest is in any of the thirds focal points (Google for Rule of Thirds if you haven't heard of it). Cropping the image so close to her tentacles also detracts. The glowing green eyes really clash with the rest of the palette; I'd use something in the yellow/amber area.
