Ah man, still doing those nice studies, and I'm still jealous
Do you use references for the poses (except pose maniacs, loomis) or are you using a "technique" for those dynamic poses? It's just, I'm always try to get an good action line but keep failing at it .
Wow, work has been keeping me busy... It's been way too long since my last update... Here's 2 quick drawing/paintings from tonight (photo ref used. original photos can be found on characterdesigns.com)... about 2 hours total for both. Enjoy.
Found a cool picture of a flower on line. Don't remember who took it. I really liked the camera angle and the colors so I thought I'd try and paint it. Turned out to be much harder to capture the bright colors and the subsurface scattering of the flower petals than I thought.
After some wise advise, I decided that I should try and make an accurate copy of an image. Saw this skull in Atlas of Human Anatomy for the Artist, decided I'd give it a shot. Currently a WIP I'll post updates as I continue to work on this. Questions, and comments would be much appreciated on this one folks. Help my eyes catch my mistakes.
Haven't stopped by here in a while, looks like you're still putting out some quality stuff though!
The last three posts are especially nice, the skull study above looks to be spot on. Maybe shading it according to the picture could give you a more in-depth understanding of the skull in space though? Regardless, keep em coming!
Spent some time on my skull copy. Just laying in some of the shadows and highlights. trying to stay loose and not get into too much detail. I'm starting to notice some differences between the original and my copy. I'll try and address them as I move forward. Enjoy!
crashMMVII: Thanks for stopping by again. Keep checking back as I plan on updating the skull study as I continue to work on it.
Did some quick gestures in a sketchbook (one of these days I'll scan and upload some of those) and then, spent about 45 min on this one. Put some color on the figure, just because I'm tired of only seeing black and white on a majority of my drawings. Photo Ref. used. Enjoy!
jatherip: Hey thanks for stopping by. Glad you liked what you saw.
Finally got my R4DS card for my DS the other day. Installed the Colors app on it. For those who may not know about this cool little application take a look here: http://colors.collectingsmiles.com/
It's like having a mini Cintiq in the palm of your hands.
Anyway, here is a little painting I did with my DS.
Photo ref from getty images.
I've been without a working scanner for some time now. Finally got one up and running again.
Here are some drawings that I liked from my little moleskin sketchbook that I carry around with me. I really need to draw in it more...
thanx for stopping by and leaving those nice comments. i'm glad you enjoyed my sb and i quite like what i see. i like the studies for the attention you pay to the construction, i like the creatures for the imagination and my absolute favourite is the sunflower for its mood
as for me being all over the critique centre, erm... i might have gotten slightly addicted to it actually, i'm trying to train myself to spot things that need to be fixed in other people's work because i hope this will make me better able to spot them in my work ; we shall see
Its been way too long since my last update... but I have been drawing more than usual, so that is good. Need to force myself to draw more though... Here are some drawings from my moleskin sketchbook. Some doodles of people while I was on a cruise. Thought I'd get to draw more on that trip, but was having too much fun other wise...
Some good 'ol Posemaniacs 30 sec to 1 min. gestures.
Some self portraits too...
Nice stuff you have going on. Like the figure drawing and that you really seem to experiment with your painting and ink drawings. It is great that you are drawing different stuff and from life. Anyways keep it going! Later.
