i can pait some same the pictures
I keep checking for that doll pic. She's gone from creepy to cute to goth to happy... she's irresistable
Granny, I used to hang out in a bar like that except it was dirtier, and the music was not as good
It is a lot of fun except that I don't have that much time to play around with art. Where's the Dolly update?
No Dolly update yet. I'm currently working on a family portrait from an old black and white pic; my grandfather and grandmother and five of their children.
So far, I'm making a complete pig's ear of it. The whole photo is so dark that it's difficult to make out my grandfather and one of my uncles against the background. Their faces are clear enough, but they're like a pair of floating heads.
I'm going to persist trying, though; I'll learn a lot from this.
Sometimes it's better to concentrate on the negative shapes to get the whole composition correct. I don't think you've done a bad job though. The girl on the far right is more what I think you are.
The one on the left is more like a scary manikin. Nice update. I can see there's still loads of work to do.
Looks good, remember keep the color transitions in the faces subtle and not to heavy handed. "Soft edges" are just as important. Looking forward to seeing the finished painting.
Details of the faces. Try as I might, the aunt on the end still looks like a zombie; but then, she did kinda scare me as a kid (dunno why).
I take your point about soft graduations, Mike. It's something I have real problems with, and I end up see-sawing between not sharp enough and too heavy-handed until I get close to what I want by sheer happenstance.
I'll keep wrestling with it; it's really making me think about what I'm doing. Use of colour has always been one of my weakest points.
Black Spot, the men on that side of the family all looked vaguely like the guy from Mad Magazine when they were kids. (I'm so dead if they read that comment!)
Grandma, you still RRRRRRRROOOOOOOOCCCCCCKKKKKK!!!!!!
