And I also had lunch with the legendary Syd Mead (Blade Runner, Tron, 2010, Gundam..ect.).....so I thought I'd share a pic of the legend.

I like these, very nice line work. Are you familiar with Tomer Hanuka's work, or maybe even Matthew Woodson maybe? Your stuff has a similar feel except you have more variety in your line weights.
oohoh! lovely line work, and great use of palette
really strong stuff mate!
wow.. lunch with syd mead. what an honor.. kudos man. and nice work - JAG
it's only after you've lost everything, that you're free to do anything..
just watched you on dev-art yesterday. realy a dynamic style!
Epias Yea man....Syd is the man......and sucha cool guy too.....really makes you feel great when you meet your idol..and they end up being a nice person as well.
careless Thanks for checking in man....Tomer has been my huge influence while I was in college. I'm glad u;re noticing the line weight tho....coz that's the one thing I'm trying to work on to make my work stand out.
mrgrumble I'm glad u're digging the colors man...thanks
JAG it was quite an honors yes.....but he is sucha nice guy that it was not as intimidating as I thought it would be.
Arne S. Cool to see you on Deviantart man.
Cool stuff, I really dig the style. It reminds me of Matthew Woodson and Tomer Hanuka's work. Though you have a different use of line and think your style is a bit more lose that the others. I think you should be getting good feedback from the clients with that awesome looking DVD.
Wasker Actually I only use Photoshop....I do all of my inking traditionally...and then scan it and do flat colors in Photoshop...much simpler than it looks ^__^
You are the love child of Mike Allred and Geoff Darrow (forgive my archaic references, but I haven't read a lot of recent comics).
Syd Mead has been my idol ever since I studied industrial design twenty years ago. Sigh.
Stuff looks great!
I love the first one especially the little pink thing in the corner.
The second and third look a lot like tomer hanuka's work though...
There is nothing wrong with using a photo to help you see things.
No one complains about life drawing,
so take a photo.
its easy, and will improve your piece greatly."
Awesome stuff man! I'm really digging the style. Lucky you, having lunch with the man.
There is only one crit I have though. In the very first one, the man sitting on the toilet, I'm confused by the casting shadows, especially the one on the right wall. It just seems that if the light was coming from that window, then that shadow wouldnt be there, or at least placed much lower.
I'm probably wrong though. But cheers anyway!
Swimmingartist09 I'm glad u're digging it..thanks man
Quatermass I don't mind the references mate.....Geoff Darrow is the man...^__^'
I.was.ink. Thanks for checking in man...I know...my Tomer influence is still apparent...but I'm working on getting away from it.....sigh....... ^__^
Skeiff U're right about the shadow.....but I used it more for compositional purposes and to pop the figure...hehehe....true..doesn't make much sense tho.
bhanu u thought it was Tomer?......I'll take that as a compliment..haha....i know..i know..I have to get away from it eventually...!
Chupacabra Thanks for dropping in bro....see?..I haven't abandoned this place quite yet..hahahahahaha
shadoman Thank you for your kind words. I was very fortunate to have met Syd Mead....who not only is a legendary artist...but a truly nice guy......it's always a pleasure meeting such a a talented person, ..and they end up being really humble and kind.......Thanks for checking in mate.
The two smiling/grinning guys are great I love it when illustrations instantly put a smile on my face
I'm digging the dvd cover too, by the way - very slick
Lunch is good,
so is your art!
thanks for sharing.
Really Impressive, especially regarding your age.
Dig your style and colour-sheme. (except for first image, some skintones bug me a bit, but thats a question of personal preferrance.)
thanks for sharing
nice illustrations, very clean & crispy!
Life is a long lesson in humility.
Great stuff, Tin! The design for your dvd will get you jobs on its own--they don't even need to crack the case to know what you're about. All that's left to do is pick up the phone and send you blank check. Awesome design.
I have some pics with some of my funnybook idols--those pics are absolutely priceless. It's great to hear Syd is a good guy--sucks when your idols turn out to be a-holes (see Byrne, John).
Do I recognize Chris, Kenny, Mr. Visions and Shaun in that one piece? I think I do!
Great shtuff, Tin! What's your new Graphic novels class going to be like? Is it something different from the Sequential class?
White Paint Thanks man..the guy on teh left is actually a cartoony version of Syd Mead, who can be viewed in teh photograph below.
blacky that's a big compliment man...especially with some of the young talent that's on here....hahaha....thanks for dropping in mate.
Crawdad Jonesthanks man....oh.. by the way..you need to check out www.freewebs.com..similar to postmyfolio.net. check out my link at www.freewebs.com/salamunicart/ (layout of the site works better)
