Pavarotti Caricature. just for value practice.... next stop colour.... ha!
ha... it's so funny flipping back to the first sketches I was proud of. fingers crossed I'll be doing the same to my latest ones a year from now and laughing.
Trying out a lil colour.
Nothing that special... just some gesturals to keep the pen alive.
a real quickie to get my mind off work.
Awesome Carl. The only crit i'd throw at the sketch is that his ear seems to be a bit luminescent in that dark shadow.
Otherwise it's the bee's nuts!
ya... you are probably right. I should bring the attention back to the face....
Hey I just checked out your body of work, you look to be improving, esp in your digital art. I love the Pavarotti!
Thanks ninjerina. Oh god it's almost embarrassing looking back at the early stuff.... bahhahahha.

Some quick value studies.... from 20mins to 1 hour. I started off really rough and scratchy which I liked... then I got caught up doing clean female faces. Old faces with wrinkles are a lil easier and faster to paint than smooth skinned girls.
I'm trying to get faster so I can get together a concept art folio.
did some full body value studies in the same style as the faces... I feel like something is clicking with this style... might try to push a polished piece.
page from imagination.
I like the irony of the huge figure against the tiny note on your Pavarotti caricature. My only critique of that one would be that the proportions feel a touch too exaggerated. His skull may need more of a back, or his shoulders should be a little less wide. He seems handicapped at his current proportions.
page of fashion from ref.... might have to start drawing cogs, springs and boilers soon..... The Steam punk Mythology gauntlet has been thrown down!
Tried going back to line work today and got terrible results... So drifted off and listened to a podcast.
The daily doodle:
Stumbled into a life drawing studio tonight after the gym... :
The CHOWs aren't so bad. Folks are quite nice, and there's lots of good critique to be found if you post in the WIP thread often (and offer critique in return.) You should enter a round!
a couple of days on this one: I still need to push the features more.
ohow.. nice face figures and expressions great workk keep it up.. (:
trust you and your eagle eyes to pick up on the small things Erilaz!
I rewatched practical light and colour from the collection. it inspired me to get into my biggest weakness: colour! so I spent the week doing colour thumbnails. still need to work on cloth and hands. back to anatomy next week.
Trying some ink and value pens.... get me away from the computer at least.
been doing a loads of study lately.... vehicles, value faces.. blah blah.. here's an a2 page of random "noses and eyes" mostly.
