Hello everyone! I'm new to this forum and this will be my first post/thread. I just have some old artwork I would like to share. Criticism is welcome, I need some motivation, so I would like to try to update at least a sketch or two per day. Remind you that I'm only 16 and some of these old sketches were done when I was 14/15. I'll post new ones though. Feedback is welcome.
Here are recent studies.
Marker and pencil drawing from life, mirror reference. Close up on face too.
That first is very interesting! Being at that age I was more into cartoons, manga and that kind of stuff, so I hope you wont mind me saying, it's rather unusual view Cloth study is just wow, great light, catches eye, I really like it Though, that background is a bit weird, I mean that black line, it feels just unnecessary there. The thing that I was told about drawing by one of my teachers is that it isn't a photography, you can modify what doesn't fit, what doesn't work right for you. I understand it's a study and at this point you should keep close to reality, but yet you're not here to play a role of camera, you're here to show beauty seen through your eyes
I hope I didn't get too carried away with my comment, hehe ^^
Haha! Thank you Mirix! Yes, my teachers are allowing me to only draw from observation and life rather than photos or cartoons. Sometimes a photo reference is okay for things that are just impossible to capture from observation such as quick movements, but I try to avoid it as much as possible. Thank you very much~
You're welcome If you want to start improving even better you may also want to browse around the forum and dig to the information that already have been said and which can also apply to you Just a hint
