Hi anyone whos reading!
I'm a massive fan of this site since a found it way back, and i recently saved up enough dough to buy myself a wacom tablet and a printer with a scanner. At last! i can post up some of my work(although it aint that great).
i live in melbourne, australia and i just started university where im currently enrolled in a graphic arts course, in the future i hope to work as both a graphic artist and a freelance illustrator.
Most of the stuff ive posted was from my folio from last year, most of its shit ,but hey its something. I've just had the graphics tablet for about a month now, i can sketch fine but i have alot of trouble painting nothing seems to turn out right!anyway...
If anyone likes or dislikes anything please POST IT, i can take criticism.
Hi StormRider85, welcome to CA!!
Some nice things in the mix there, I would suggest using some finer mediums though. Buy yourself a set of good quality pencils, or just a couple. A good start is just to have a 2B, HB and 4B. Refine your line work and keep the style slightly less messy in appearance. Coloured crayons are difficult to use, but It's really good that you're experimenting with a number of different materials, which would you say do you feel most comfortable using right now?
I like the fact you've done a life study as well, always study anatomy! It will improve your art skills immensely, as I am learning myself lately!
Keep posting and stay positive!!!
yeh i know pastels are kind of annoying medium for finer detailed work, but because of the subject of art i was doing last year they expect experimentation of different media's.At the moment I'm starting to use my wacom graphics tablet and corel painter X.i just started sketching with it, but im kinda still struggling with using paints and colour. As soon as i get a whole different bunch of digital work done ill start posting and you can tell me wat you think.
I agree about using pencil. Get some anatomy studies down to make headway with expressing your own ideas. Don't worry about color right now. Do a bunch of value studies, then when you move to color it'll be easier. Check out http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...5&postcount=32 and Seedling's Concept Art 101.
G'luck! You've got the drive, now lots of anatomy, anatomy, anatomy, and studies.
