really cool stuff u have love that last idea
MAN your COW is stunning, definitely a tough one to beat. mad props to you sir.
Well i'm finally please to show some sketches i did for my sketchbook feature in this month's imagine fx!! I did this a while ago and though i would save them to be shown first in the mag and then post them in my sketchbook. Funnily enough the magazine states i'm a "swedish concept artist" as much as that could be true, it is not haha, I am living in sweden, but a brit really.
I'm fairly pleased with the results. But i think a few are too loose or a bit too sketchy and unoriginal, but i guess that is why we sketch, to eek out the originality from your work. I have a load more to dump here from other sketches, but i'm trying to paint some of them up much further for my portfolio. In a couple of weeks there is a big expo here in malmo for artists in games, so i gotta get ready!!
I will preview my portfolio on here for some help and advice for what i put in it!! I'm clueless about what people will be looking for!!
Great SB Tom. I just grabbed my mag after reading your post stating you were in it. Congrats!
Haha! That COW is freekin off the hook!! Cool char sketches too
Truly incredible work!
Just the inspiration I needed before falling asleep! Amazing.
5 stars and subscribed. You've got a great talent. Thank you for sharing it with us and please continue to do so!
Hi, ages since i last updated!!
firstly thanks so much for the kind words everyone!
Here are some sketches, some ones that I have started for Chow's that i didnt get time for, and others just for fun, I have some more but i need to sort through them. Also some faces, trying to exercise the typical face i end up painting every time, so annoying! I think from now on i need to concentrate on doing faces from ref only (few in here are from ref, or reffed from other artists that i admire!)
This was something i just found from a few months ago! Just a quick sketch from a photo.
These are the characters I did for White Wolf last year, wasnt sure when I could release these but as the book is out it should be fine They were in Scion and Ragnarok
And lastly, quite a challenging painting which was a magazine cover for "Dangerous Ink" a great mag about all arty things! They did an interview with Richard O'brien and needed him in his Riff Raff outfit. I hope i did him justice!
blarg....not entirely happy with it, oh well!
I've just started some more fun work doing cool characters!! cant wait to show you all - and there is a lot of pitch artwork i've been working on that i might be able to show soon, need to clear it tho! I had a huuuge art slump recently, real pain in the arse actually. But things seem on the up...lets hope there are no signs of slumpage again

gonna try and get a portrait out every day, and hopefully an enviro too - i really need to boost my skills with these. I would like to get to a point where i can do a portrait, nude and enviro each day - even if its just quick sketches.
I'm also trying to loosen my whole approach to rendering - something else i must learn! This was about 1 and a half hours work - so a bit too long i guess. i've also dl'd the coro dvds, havent watched it yet, so lets see if it improves my stuff next portrait

First of all, congrats on making it into IFX! Secondly, awesome work here!
Great work on the cow, liking the sort of flame-brain effect you gave it, and the cow studies are excellent. Incredible work on the still life studies, really makes me want to do some now..
Thanks for sharing!!
I love how you nailed the material and lighting on the girl in the green jacket study.
lens flare renaissance
I'm quite envious of your painting skills. Apart from the studies, your designs skills are great too.
Whaaaaaaat? Again an update? I must be dreaming! \/
It's fucking ace!!!
I also love how you paint hands and your stilllifes are really awesome!
These portraits, oh man, you're doing it!!!
I love this sketchbook!
Great studies man! I really like your post from Jul 9th.. some of those male heads indeed look similar between each other. I really like how you colored those complete character sketches, and the enviro below as well... nice job!
Damned enjoyable work here, i bookmarked this thread, more to say/critique later

it continues...had to do another - i'm feeling like my eyes are simplifying which is good, but i dunno about the rest, colours and edges. hmn - also to let you know i'm not trying to make these day long studies, they are meant to be speedies, so each are around an hour at most.
thanks everyone who is looking! please leave some crits cos it really does help (even if it makes me spit my coffee out over my screen hehe)
