Heya Carni! I know I should have dropped by sooner, but better late than never
First of all, you seem to be having a lot of fun with your drawings. they exude an enthusiasm I haven't observed in your earlier, perhaps more realistically aimed, drawings. That´s great! I totally dig your constructional drawings, they tell of a solid draftsmanship.
Your darkwing duck stuff is gorgeous. I´m impressed! Vast improvements, love the sexy stuff.
In my opinon, you could practice more on your lineweight. Many of your renderings look cheap because the lines are of the same weight/width all over. Emphasize lines where you want the viewer to look, where the form is important, an important curve, where two surfaces are meeting etc. Don´t be afraid to insinuate, rather than drawing them eighter! I think lines are extremely hard, thats why I usually paint over them
I love what you´re doing man, keep it up ;D
dan - cheers! yeah, it took a while for me to accept that i work better with loose lines. (probably why i seldomly finish up pieces )
deadlyhazard - well, you better get cranking then! can't do everything by myself (that's brohoof btw )
kaktuzlime - thank you so much for the input and kind words! you're definitely right about the lines. i think it happens automatically in my sketches because i go over one line multiple times, which i avoid in my "finished" works. i'll be sure to think more about it in the future, until it comes by intuiton.
finished lines for more humanized ponies (colour following soon), plus another try at anthro. i've decided for it to work, i need to remove any hints of the show's style and go almost full-on realistic. (with slight tweaking of anatomy for aesthetic purposes)
i had the idea for this comic some days ago, and now that i've finally drawn it i...
i think i've made myself cry.
(and i'm very happy about that, because it is EXACTLY what i wanted to achieve)
(and because in the back of my mind, a little passage from one of butterscotchsundae's stories is lurking and telling me that maybe it won't be alright...*sniff* aj's pappy...T^T)

valyavande - don't worry, she WILL get better eventually
i again felt like drawing sad stuff, because i wanted to make myself cry, for real this time.
after having finished this pic, and looking at some other sad pics, i finally watched the intro, and the ending ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJTjZ...eature=related ) of "the last unicorn".
the combined wave of nostalgia, sadness, beauty, and eventually victory finally broke me down.
i have now officially, for the first time in near 20 years, cried again. i couldn't even remember what tears on my face feel like, i was almost shocked.
i thank everybody who's been with me so far, and will continue to be with me.
it is truly a beautiful day.
(and i'll update this with proper linework, and probably colour eventually)
Make a sketchbook happy, feed it a tip to improve!
I think loose lines makes everyone better honesty
& Like the coloured version you made ~

pigeonkill - yeah, i can really recommend it. most of all it's got this nice 90's cartoons' vibe to it. i'll check your suggestions later.
dan - thanks!
finished lines for that anthro pic. now to colour...
It took me some time to browse through your enormous Sketchbook but i gotta say it was worth the time. I really like how your style.. changed. I'm not good at describing this in english (meh :/) Whatever, i really like your Ponystuff as well as your more realistc stuff. And it was your fault that i had to sing the Darkwing Duck Introsong for days.
Well, keep up the good work is all i can say. Cheers
lumen - hey, a fellow austrian! glad you decided to stop by and look through yeah, i've become more relaxed about my own work, which is probably part of the change. hope to see you around more often! and zwo, eins, risiko!
finished anthro rarity (even got some good pointers on ponibooru, who'd have thought), some more d'aww and another pic of Brushpen.
incidentally, i made the exact same face when i drew that last picture.
....yeah. i actually did.
also, it's a funny feeling that i managed to draw this EXACTLY the way i had dreamt it.

Funny thing. Did not even see you were an Austrian. I stopped looking at peoples location some time ago, since the Internet is big and Austria is so small Where exactly are you from if I may ask?
Me again, drifting off. The real thing I wanted to ask you is, if you still draw realistic stuff but keep it to yourself? Like the sketches at the beginning of this sketchbook.
vineris - oh snap! good catch, thanks!
lumen - switching between eisenstadt and vienna. haven't drawn any realistic stuff for some time now, and i post almost everything i draw up here
the lotus spa twins at the end of the day.
hm...i'm kinda tired myself now...
brushpen bristle and blackberry bun enjoying a nice picnic. raspberry red has already gone home again.
(finally settled on names)
felt nice to really paint again for a change.
plus, OMG! i've been featured on equestria daily!
insert rainbow dash going omgomgomgomg here.
Somehow images like #1394 are pretty damn scary
nice lines and colours in #1393, 1399 and 1401
& nice tempo as well
Edit: forgot to say that I added the 3 william like images in my SB - p17 and I think the rat is in the first one in p18, but can't remember - must be the times
SB. p31 updated 25.04.2012.
dan - heh, i'm shifting all the blame on my subconscious
i saw your images actually! they're really nice, but i think all i'd be able to add is "they remind me of william b hand"
ready for the gala and an homage to megasweet's pov series.
HAHA I like the Rarity one. I bet Spike would be like, DAT FLANK.
Also, LYRA IS HOT.
really cute style! the only crit I can think of is to be more careful with your lines - at first glance everything looks great, but if I take the time to inspect the piece I can see all the little wiggles and stuff goin on. I think #1399 is a great example of nice clean flowing lines
deadlyhazard - ha! pretty much everyone is like DAT FLANK XD
carakhan - could you pinpoint a specific example of wiggly lines? it's something i try to avoid, but i didn't notice anything myself lately.
suddenly, darkwing duck. well, darkwarrior. best good-guy-turned-bad ever.
drawing actual ponies again.
ocs (and fluttershy).
thinking bout doing sketch requests in this manner.
anyone want something?
Hey, its just nitpicking really - but I'd say 1385, the tree in particular. The bark looks wobbly, like you should have taken one last pass over it to smooth out those lines like you do on your beautiful hair
Also I notice it on your cowboy boots in your second to last post. It's like every other character in the scene has great lines and is complete, and then all of a sudden I see the boots and they just aren't up to par with the rest of the piece, know what I mean?
Your pencil sketches are super cute though, everything has a beautiful flow.
dblock - cheers! i'll be sure to pop in some time.
carakhan - ah yes, i see what you mean. on that treestump i was trying to play abit more with varying lineweights and give it a rougher texture as opposed to the hair. might be it just looks wobbly though.
on the boots i'm just gonna be a cheap bastard and say i was going for that rough leather look (nah, but truthfully, i had trouble finding the correct line and went with what felt right, as far as possible)
an oc request based on a character from "ruby gloom", humanized celestia, luna and fluttershy as a thankyou gift for megasweet, and my own ocs again.
summary of them for those who might have missed it in my walls of text earlier:
raspberry red, who makes delicious lemonade and loves juicy rumours. she has a little café/bakery at the edge of town together with
blackberry bun, who is renowned for her sweet bread that's made with, you guessed it, blackberries. she also has a birthmark around her right eye which she's very self-conscious about, as it startles most ponies when they first meet her. one who doesn't mind and who she eventually gets together with is
brushpen bristle, who's your typical grumpy, but good-hearted artist recluse. he's got a little flat above the café/bakery. he's very honest, sometimes brutally so, but usually has to take his mind of his art first. most days he can be found by a trail of torn out sketchbook pages.
