wow been a long time since I chatted with you,
Its juts because my shitty study schedule that Ic ant be online when you are . But keep in touch here okay.
Dude now you are doing some crazy shit here. the tadema study blue me away. you make these look very easy. great rendering man, keep pimping.
awesome pages and pencil rendering. Love that alma tademas' study, as vigo said you should push the values a bit more, but i know about fragile papers. hehe.
anyways, great book, looking foward to see more.
Nice work, 100% on aerial perspective. I looked at your old sketchbook, and I really loved the tone drawings. I think if you continue using lines, you should try to express the shape of the object using the angles of your lines.
your linework is amazing. it shows through especially strong with your pencil drawings. i love your control over values. it looks like your really strict w your lines as well only using what is necessary to make the forms read. the fact that you are 18 is really inspiring, IT makes me realize how far i am behind. thanks for the comments! i will deff watch as this thread progresses. keep it up!
WOW..........needless to say.....your pencil rendering skills are INSANELY AWSOME......and the ink experiments you did b4 were really great too.....once you master the digital medium and do some oils or other traditional works, you'll be an unstoppable art monster
EDIT: tried to bumped this up back to a 5 star...whoever gave you a one-star should be shot
wow, fantastic rendering. and the faces you draw look so full full of character.
great dramatic lightning on the last one.
keep us updated!
I'll go and practice shading now... *jealous
Post 134 & 1st pic in 145 are beautiful!.
Can't wait to see the finished concept. Much patience and love in those renders. High quality work from you.
...somebody stole my sketchbook......
... lol false alarm... actually i forgot it in the classroom..during a test... a friend kept it for me....
i should chain it to my pants next time..

incredible man, luuuuuv the top one in the latest post... yummmmy.
nice work my friend i always injoy seeing control over contrast and values as to control my eye. some of your work is stronger then others keep exploring work from life it will teach you to control that contrast and value like a pro!

supreme coolness, great that you got your sketchbook back!
the top one the girls face, her left eyes is bigger then the other, and it looks like all her facial features should be shifter a little to the left side of her face (our right) if you know what i mean, they are not positioned right on the basic shape of the head.
in the kiss one, the girls back cheek is SUPER puffed out but thats actually a really cool pic.
i like the hand gestures on the next one
and well, the last one.... is just terrible what else can i say
keep up the crazy good work man!
wtf, I go away for a week and you decide to get cracking.
Stunning work. Out of all the new ones there is only one I have a problem with - the one of the two people kissing. The far cheek of the girl is confusing, it feels like it protrudes too much! The rest are all stunning - excellent stuff.
Will stop by more decently soon! In a huge hurry right now!
Bonjour mon ami (??)! K, promised I'd return with a decent post.
I'm really liking that you're starting to play around soo much with lighting, there's some nice lighting on some faces and silhouettes.
Doing nice lighting with graphite is labour intensive and time consuming most of the time, so kudos to you for being patient with your design.
Speaking of design, the characters have been very well designed themselves, not quite like anything I've seen before! Really enjoying that.
I'm also digging the compositions, but as a suggestion maybe take them much further and make them much more intricate - see how complex you can make it before it starts to crumble! Careful not to loose the focal point as I did haha!
Crits (or as close as I could come to any) - Try to vary your noses some more. I think you may have fallen into a bit of a formula for drawing them, the all seem a bit too similar and straight. Try big'uns, fat'uns and broken'uns! They are well drawn though.
Another thing I think you should work on is consistent values - pencils cause a sort of line effect and it's difficult to get it all black. I have this same "problem" and it's driving me insane! Don't know how Wes gets everything so super black, no trace of hatching....
Lastly, just because graphite is black and white doesn't mean your drawings have to be. What I mean by that is that you should perhaps try to suggest more colour by varying the base value of some things. Right now I think too many object hold the same value range. It's like when you draw coal and you draw polystyrene - the shadows on the polystyrene will still be lighter than the highlights on the coal. Hope that makes sense - you know what I mean - the same type of thing you're doing with the tattoos on some figures.
And that all I could come up with, I'm really digging all of this - not too long and you might be giving Wes a run for his money!
Cheers man, keep posting the love my friend!

gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh I'm soooo damn envious...
rendering style is gorgeous as usual, as sense of graphic design, composition, anatomy and all the rest.
EXcellent work here dude, keep it coming, i wanna see more.I'd love to see something completely finished and maybe some colour but...
...argh i hate you
looooooooooooool what can i say > fantastic. love the eye's love the line's love the pencils love it all!
I would like to see you go to work with a ball point pen....
Are eyes really the window to the soul? And did Mike Tyson really say that about fear? Really.....Mike Tyson.....
"I HEAR THUNDER IN THE DESERT."
ok lets make it 5 stars again really nice sb Daniel nice pencils i will come back again
marco: thanks ! i'm planning on doing some more of these. I enjoyed telling a story through that one.. something i should do more often.
Pencilator: thanks alot !! You're right about the bone, i tried fixing it but since i pressed too much on the lines i couldn't redo it without "hiding" the previous mistake.
thanks alot for the comment !
Jake, gorgnut, bendragon: thank you very much ! they're coming
bhanu: thanks ! so are we ever going to chat again ?
Diego: thanks !! you're doing some nice stuff too so keep updating !
2100: thanks. So you mean i should play more with the hatching directions ?
kawakaze: thank you
paperX : thanks alot for the support.
monotony: thanks !!
Aztecfireflower: thanks =) ... so i suppose you're left handed too... ?
Blaz: thanks !
Tiger: hehe thanks my friend. I gotta go see what you've been up to these last days.
noshadowmaster: thank you very much for the comment sir. i really like what you're doing. I'll keep doing life drawings...btw, were you really at the same school as wes ? =)
bhanu: tanks and sofas...
kronos: thanks for taking some time to leave a crit. i botched that face a bit since i did it a few minutes before going to school.. i should be more careful next time =)
Brendan: thank alot man!
the inconsistent shading always bugged me.. but i don't know why i often lose patience and just get the value without taking care of the rest. Thank for the other points too. Though i'm still a bit hesitant about the composition. I concentrate more on the elements themselves instead... still have a long way to go on them.
About the facial features...actually i should do some studies on them, but i often just use a "generic" feature and concentrate on the concept itself.. i'll be in trouble when i'll have to play on the character itself =)
gnoll: thanks bro ! colors should be coming somewhere in the next week... i'll be on vacation
oma: thanks !
owen: hey! .. pen ? i tried it before. it's really niec and easy to get a smooth line. I left it cause wanted to concentrate more on the "grain" of the pencil. But i'll try to pick one up someday. About the eyes.... i still can't give them a specific role.
whiteeeeeee: lol thanks!!!
Just some small things just to avoid an empty post.
i'll come up with something more finished and interesting in a few days. Monday there will be a special art day, so all the artists at my school (which means just a few of us..like 10 or so ) will have to show and demonstrate what we can do. I'll try some portraits or life drawings.
once again man; http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...1&d=1165432694
Well, it is, its eye candy, its one of the more - most beautiful artwork i've seen on ca, IN PENCILS THAT IS ASWELL you have a crazy talent i tell, you

jesus F. christ,
The monsters the monsta , shit dude.Holy fucking shit. Draw monsters man, draw more of them. Asspatts for you.
Dope the best here by far. Dudeyou are getting bigger and bigger with lead. Keep with it. And best of luck for the demonstration.
Hey man, really good updates, nothing to crit here really. Just a thought - edges in the shadow areas are soft wheres edges in the light are hard. You usually follow through with this, just didn't know if you particularly pay attention to it or whether it's something that happens naturally!
That female figure is looking great, awesome values. Two faces are very believable, great stuff man. You got 5 stars again, yay!
Mr riosa: hehe.. thanks for the comment
Cup: thanks! I still dunno what i'm gonna do.. i'll figure out later =)
Dennis: thanks! btw...we need to OC !!
Bhanu: thanks man
brendan: thanks! I have that in mind.. but i most of the time don't pay attention to it... i guess it comes naturally.
Bendragon: as you wish =)
I'm working also on a sanguine drawing on a3 paper... but i can' scan it right now.
