cool sketchez man! drawing figures in action is certainly great exercise. keep them up
about the rendering: take the last guy. everything you rendered so far seems almost the same value. make sure to push those darker values and establish the lighter tones so you can show the form of his arm, head etc.
keep at it!
promising SP on last page btw!
Φ phil : Hey mate, thanks for the comment. Just one thing. The value was on purpose. You´ll see what I did for the next steps. But now, something else
My first life drawing sessions! I am so going to push my anatomy and figures!
Sorry about poor scans. But I was really lazy. Didn´t even post all of the sketches...
Nice life studies, keep em coming.
Exon needs your critique!
hey! the basketball player is very nice.. what about laying some colors over it? in weaver-style maybe?
Fumble, Janos, The Exon, Turbosnail and Farin, thank you for your comments, suggestions and motivation. Means a lot to me!
been working a many different stuff. Here are a few steps on the basketball player. Back and forth in Painter and Photoshop. This way of working is really helping me understand both software's more. And my experimenting and learning in art in general. The piece is not finished yet, but I like it so far. Taken a little break from it likely though Always take a step away from a certain piece, when you feel you can´t contribute on it anymore. Give it a break. Works every time.
Anyways, here they are. Hope you like.
I am so busy lately... So for now only two pics. A colorstudy and a study from life. These are squeezed in between work, in other words, not much time.... More to come soon! This week
Using Painter and Photoshop alongside eachother. -And loving it!
Love that alien baby study! Keep up the good work!
Bernie Kang : wow mate, thank you, means a lot.
Braintree : Thank you, will see what I can do. We finished the live sessions at school... Cool thing is several of my drawings got picked to get showcased on the wall. the A2 stuff which I cant scan.
colour studies which I have started again. Gotta work work work!
School stuff. Nothing impressive I know, but still learning.
As usual all done in both Painter and Photoshop
Something else I started working on. This is so typical me. Working on too much at the same time. Though, it keeps me from getting bored!
Got some crappy news today, but I´m not going to let it bring my spirit down. My goal is sett nonetheless! Even though it now will be just a tat harder to reach it, I will get there.
Today's post is a quick colour-sketch again. Just a screen-shot of it. Ref used is a photo of my own from last year when I went for a walk with my aunts dog, IRA. Obviously I´ve gone and used my own colours and exagerating it quite a bit, but I like it so far. It´s... different.
Painter and Photoshop.
I miss the spring and summer. Its been an amazingly long winter here.
the progress its obvious, But i have to point some things some problem on the shoulders of your drawings in special the basketball player, they are not in place
You seem to have good proportions but you need to gather a little more information about muscles to have a 100% use of your proportions
I hope you understand what i mean cheers
Sorry guys, really busy, another quick screen capture of a study. Will reply on next update. Was trying a new technique again today. lost 2 damn wips... btw, I know her entire right side is so wrong, but was focusing on technique now... lame excuse I know..

wow, your digital stuff is really improving. Your colours look good and your blending/brush work is getting solid.
My only suggestion is maybe think about spending that extra bit of time on construction, on the drawing or whatever before hand. A nice painting can be let down real easy by a mis-proportion or something out of place. Just spend a few extra minutes checking shapes, sizes and proportions etc.
Really good work though, ure improving. Keep it up
It is more important to get the shapes of where values create the form down first. Remember that you are painting or drawing shapes. See it, recognize it, then draw/interpret what you see. You seem to focus on detail a bit too early instead of focusing on the beginning. Most of the hard work is in the starting of an image. Of course work on detailed renderings, but make it easy by starting with large masses then cutting into detail. Paint those hands in. At least block in shapes to describe hands. The more you paint them the better you get. Hands are soo important in an illustration. It helps with the story telling. You can understand anger with the way hands are posed in an illustration. So get used to doing them. Later, and keep at it Chris.
Thank you guys, your comments are REALLY noted and appreciated. I know, I have to work on my foundations more. Working on it, but for now, all I want to show is ...
Just to show I am still alive.
Colours from movies. Didnt really save the files, just took quick screenshots, to save time, so colours and focus might be a little off. Hope you all have a great weekend!
I´ve been trying to push in some quick and random Alchemy sketches before I go to bed. These are usually posted on facebook just for the heck of it. But thought I´d share. Some might have potential in the future...
its so cool seeing how you have progressed! of the later ones the basketball dude is awesome and so is the dog, really love the lighting.
