Thanks for looking, critting and taking my sweet poll!

Interesting color scheme on the heads, it's more successful on the alien/fairy head, there's more of that orange sweetening it up... I suppose the words are it has a warmer tone. I like the female head but not so much the profile male? head. Ambiguity is caused by the vertical front of the neck(no adams apple) should be slightly diagonal even if no bump is shown, subtle brow ridge, strong jaw. Also the filtrum is placed slightly off center, it wouldn't be seen from that angle. I really liked your Aludard illustration so I decided to pop in here, you've got skills.

Been stalkin ya ever since I saw your colour job for Sam Liu. I love seeing your progress. Keep it up!
I love the first one in post 2 it's so pastel O.O

I've seen some of them on your HP already and I'm quite happy you start a SB

Awesome start on you sketchbook JenZee! Great lines, beautiful color works, can´t wait to see more! keep it up

Wow thanks for the great feedback/crits guys !
spiffiness - OMFG WOW! I can't believe you know of that little "incident" hahah XD! Wow sweet Sam Liu is definitely the man... That coloring job was horrible XD! Well I mean... I hope I've gotten better since :d.
Armando - thanks for the crits... I see what you mean, and yeah it does look a little flat... Will definitely keep that in mind in the future!
darkchild - Woohoo Seatown represent :9!!!!! Thanks !
silverside - Yessss backgrounds like the Alucard one took me forever... a lot of it having to do with scrapping it over and over again and redoing it. A lot of it also has to do with the fact that I'm pretty new at doing backgrounds in general... most of my artwork before that one have been pretty bland in terms of backgrounds... I'm trying to change that hehe. Gotta work on it!
Infinit - Thanks! The purple and turquoise girl are both scanned in, the red/other ones are all a combination of a scanned pieces cleaned up/edited digitally .
Woohoo, two more sketches...
#1 was me trying to draw Ender Wiggin >_>. From the amazing book Ender's Game that I've just read recently for the first time (I know I'm behind the times). Wowee, I need to practice drawing kids anyway lol. Unfinished, I really want to paint him but I'm too wussy to do it and gain the hate of all Ender's Game fans.
#2 is ... I don't know. Just bored lol. Little 10 min doodle.
The painting aspect is really cool, no qualms really.
The sketch aspect feels at times a bit bulky and blunt in the line weight especially.
Overall a solid body of work.
Keep it up Jen.
DON'T CLICK THIS
wow. i really like this stuff
they're wonderfully detailed, yet still has a looseness about them. particularly the first post.
cool pics man! the colors looks nice! the sketches are very fine too, good work.
Nothing but a tail and some will
I love your drawings... the hatching is working really well for the turning of form.
The environment sketch could probably use some more perspective/recession though (something I always have to struggle with too) as right now it's registering more like a theatre stage or a series of flat planes than a city receding in space.
Amazing SB! I like your drawing and painting technique, very cool stuff!
Keep more updatese, cheers
i'll be checking it very often
Keep up the great work.
gryphon has a very good point.
I like your lines... I for some reason can not get a sure line on a tablet no matter how hard I try!
Thanks a ton for the support guys lol didn't think anyone even looked here haha!
evildisco - thanks ! Hmmm maybe I need to work on varying line width more? Or is that not what you meant. I feel like my sketching has been somewhat static in terms of improvement for the last few...years. lol. Any pointers are always welcome!
marco nelor - We can grow together! Yeah I know what you mean about vehicles... I've been practicing that, but too embaressed to show anything yet lol. Stopping by your book in just a sec .
DR_Inferno - thank you~! Yeah the first post actually has newer stuff than the 2nd.... mostly because I was messing around with the attachment manager thing and it wtfpwned me XD.
Kalango and Tetsuo- Thanks guys! Sweeeeeeeeet ninja approval! That means I get to flip out and kill people right?
Gryphon - Thanks a ton, I think you're completely correct. I realised it was a pretty static/boring/easy angle to draw from like halfway through and was at once both relieved and somewhat pissed LOL. Will definitely try something better next time!
Dreamworker and Diego - Thank you guys ! Flattered~~!
ODT - thanks Heheh tablets take a little getting used to... it's that slippery surface! This is probably just me, but I find getting steady lines much easier in Painter, than Photoshop... so depending on which one you use maybe it's just inherantly difficult lol!
Oops! Meant to ask - what did you use to colour the 'random doodles' on the 29th? Painter/Photoshop/a paintbrush - like the smoothness and good choice of colours on those faces
Gigglepixie- Thanks All the one's I've posted so far have been cleaned up a bit in via digital means so my linework really isn't all that clean XD. I just fake it nicely :9. I used Painter for all three .
marco - You need to ask? The truth is, it rains every day, *twenty four hours a day* in Seattle, In fact we're so covered with water, if you look us up in the encyclopedia, it says "Obligatory Portion of the Pacific Ocean." Also, umbrellas are for wussies .
So I finally got my OWN scanner hooked up... for the first time in.... 2 years? Man it's so old, I think I got it for my 14th birthday (I'm 22 now):9. It might not be the best scanner ever, but it scans stuff ok, and it's small! CANOSCAN FP630 For the WIN!
Interestingly enough, none of these sketches I've posted so far are actually in my RL sketchbook, so I figured I'd post something pure and unadulterated by the computer... Just a little doodle I did a bit ago. Dunno what it is lol. My sketchbook is 9"x6" if you're curious at all
Yeahhh woohoo messy!

That's not messy! Love your characters.
For the environment, it occurs to me that the level of detail across depths is about the same, so I'm not sure where to look. Retaining the same level of detail, I suppose some other element of depth like contrast, lighting, shape or texture could be used to direct interest. There's some frames within frames happening to frame the lit water outlet(?), but perhaps try making it more dominant and subordinate things outside (like the building lights up top, it's where I'm immediately drawn to at the moment).
great sketches ,like the hair in the first sketch in post 12 *jealous noo motivated XD*
the yellow circle may seems a bit to solid in the background because the buildings are done in blurry way ^^
