Thanks a lot for the links, I was familiar with bumskee's work but never seen rayk's stuff before Cool characters in the last update, putting them all in one movie would make some sort of wicked story
mike: thanks, I dunno which one u mean tho It would be super awesome if dave had any time to go out and enjoy it!
mr. delicious: yeah...so awesome it was my first bluescreen evarrrr
doc pop: thanks!
thirdeye: glad u got something out of it! rayk has some great works
defiledvisions: haha yeah:< i wish i lived there. I live about 3 hrs east...aaaaand it's non-cool version of the middle of nowhere.
So after the bluescreen my tabletpc wouldn't turn on. After sitting and staring at it going ...I asked some people for advice. Turns out it was my ram. All I needed to do was pop the ram out and put it back in. As a mac user, I had nooooooooo idea that could happen!
spent the last trying to get my shit in order, so to speak. I'll be back on track soon...in the meantime here's some doodles.
nice creatures, pal, like your stuff,is very unusual.
keep on drawing
there are good things happening here. i dig the characters you do. i'm keeping an eye on you.
bubbagump: thanks! That's one of my favorite things about the sketchbook section here, is the documentation of people's art journeys
drd: hehe thanks! I actually stole it from robogabo tho.. it's unsharp mask + add noise. I think it looks real good on stuff you worked up low-res/sloppy.
rushlord: thank you!
sickbrush: umm is it??? thanks!!
mr.alamo,c: thanks! I willllll keep drawing hahah
black delphin: thanks!!
orozco: thanks! hopefully dont disappoint!
teun deboer: yeah, they're interesting for me, I'm trying to work up pages like I would a regular sketchbook. Now that I don't leave the house hardly at all, I find I'm not really drawing in my sketchbook anymore, and i really miss those off the cusp ideas I have...so I'm trying to get back to not worrying about having to make everything a finished something on the computer.
As far as tabletpc, they are not as cool as I thought they would be. The initial pressure required to activate the pen is more than I expected...I have a really light touch with my wacom...cuz with the amount of work I do, I end up with a death grip on the pen, which can cause strain/problems due to my complete lack of exercise lately. Right now I like the heat it makes, I'm freezing my ass off still. I have a naturally low body temp Powerwise, I think it's fine. It's not going to be the fastest thing ever, but it's more than enough. I've worked on worse machines. The screen I have doesn't fare too well in natural light either... :|
I haven't really used it that much, mostly still getting used to it...I would say try before you buy! Find a friend who has one, and see what u think. I have friends that absolutely looooove them.
here's a swamp monster
Cool one. Interesting start...you're a Mac user ? Which Photoshop do you use if any ?
Also I have a question about your brushes, seems to me that you use high opacity brushes ? or maybe pen pressure controlled opacity ? I especially mean those black and white sketches from post #1295, paint looks thick there.
Like this one a lot, you gotta finish it braaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh

MY SKETCHBOOK!!! http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...d.php?t=180543
thirdeye: yeap I'm a mac user. I am running macOS 10.6 and photoshop CS3.
My 'default' brush is a hard round with pressure set to flow + opacity, spacing set to 1, smoothing on. I have the pressure settings of the wacom a notch left from center. I used that brush for the sketches.
I am finding myself doing environment studies with brushes that are very opaque, some that are 100% opacity with no pressure sensitivity, and I just use manual opacity. I think it's important to experiment.
dave: yeah finish it mayyyybe...we'll see feels real backwards to work up from a mess, harder to get a real tight render for me.
austefm: thanks! discooooo
metal fingers: yeah, I was trying to get a good lighting/mood for this one. It's the influence from those environment studies haha
johnny: i heard you saw some wiskers up close.
tolousse59: hahah waterfall mullet The pail of crawdads isn't a bad idea tho!! I might just add that in when I clean it up.
jaredsalmond: thanks! tips? euuuhhh draw lots?
so I don't get out of the house much, but I'm enjoying taking pictures when I take the dog out for long walks. These are basically just out my backdoor. boonies...
For those who are interested, I've got a bunch more pictures from this walk on my BLOG
