coloured in the character from the last post - painted it on a different pc and suddenly it looks dark on this one...does it look dark to you ?! does it ?! hey lemme know cos I might have to ligthen it up a bit...
a couple of quick sketches...and more graf...i only did the piece tho - not the background...
Ok, so I haven't posted for ages because I've been out of action with RSI...but I'm finally in a position to start posting again so here's some recent stuff...skull study and some photo's of a model building I was messing about with using foamboard and stuff...
and some drawings out and about...
quick paintovers and more sketches...
well. good to see you posting again. Whatīs RSI btw?
I guess I should update my sketchbook too.
Hey check out the gotec-cafe.de website. Weīre hosting the second anually "urban signs" art show. Itīs dedicated to streetart - streeat art artist and their related projects. MAybe thatīs something for you next year?
hey bbwolf - good to hear from you !
I'll check out that site and swing by your sketchbook soon as I can, so you'd better get updating.
RSI - repetitive strain injury, I've managed to kill my drawing hand pretty bad through work over the last few years, but it got pretty bad so I had to stay off it for a while.
Anyways, I'm back at work now, and if I can work then I can draw !
Long time no update, been stupid busy with work and stuff...excuses excuses.
anyway, here's a small sculpture I did of my ear, first sculpture for me, so it took aaaaaages...should probably have gone on and smoothed it all out and stuff but i'm a bit vague on all that, and it's really gone as far as it needs to go i think.
I thought it might help me with my form if I mix up the drawing with some sculpture here and there.
long time my ass. Yer worse n me man!!! Nice sculpture. Made with? Not super sculpy by the looks from it. Plaster?
What kept ya so busy? Nice to see yer a life. Cheers.
Hey bbwolf, Cheers for the reply, quick too !
I just got totally tied up in work and stuff so my drawing suffered loads, plus I got in a bit of a wierd state where I had no energy to draw cos my hands were hurting from work all the time...gah.
Hopefully I can stay on top of things now and stay motivated I've got a pile of books to work through !
The ear was done in Chavant Pro Plastecine, working on a skull now but I keep cutting it up and starting from scratch so it might be a while yet.
Meant to post this, illustration from a little while ago.
Got some newer sketches and stuff to scan tomorrow.
Thanks Bill, I'd like to develop that stuff a bit more - tend to work better when I've got a story or something to focus on.
DSG1471 - The dragon emerges from it's winter hibernation.
I really DID try and get away from line art.
Gotta work on form.
good work, the sculptures and your foam model of the room are amazing, I would recommend for your pencil drawings to really push your line weight, try and vary it up more, and also try and be as fluid as possible. looks great.
"If you ever give your best... well give it better"-Maniac...
Thanks localfatheaded - I'd like to get more 3d stuff done, hopefully it will help me get a better feel for form too !
Yeah my lines are pretty much the same the whole time, well spotted ! I'll have a play with that, thanks.
Think I really need to start looking at things and experimenting a lot more.
OK so a few bits from the last day or so, been a bit engrossed in drawing heads.
Going to start working through my big pile of anatomy books soon...am too...any time now...
wowie-zowie. First almost a year of hibernation and now you have the drop on us. Nice going. I like youīre rugged style. Wish I could do such things. Mebbe Iīll give it a try sometime. But I gotta tell that these cartoons look REALLY flat. too flat that is. What else are you upt o these days?
haha ! thanks bbwolf, i REALLY struggled colouring the cartoons, i was expecting to find it easier to be honest.
decided i need to go back and work through all the basic stuff if i'm going to improve on things like that but i keep getting sidetracked with more fun stuff.
i had another go at one of the heads, and did a second one which despite my best efforts is still just as flat. gah. i will persevere !
Couple of ref'd digital studies after reading through Bumskee's digital painting thread.
DSG 1473: Sci-Fi FLYING VESSEL, PURSUED BY ANOTHER, GETS AN ENGINE BLOWN OUT
Quick ref'd study before i crash out.
Couple more, trying to speed up on the second one and put some harder edges in here and there, still looking a but blurry tho. Gonna try and do a whole bunch of these.
More of the same ! Gonna start doing some of these from life rather than ref, and maybe working more opaque.
another woodland path, which came out kinda fluffy...and some quick skull studies, trying to sketch in photoshop, plus one not so quick one which went a bit wonky.
sketch of some decaying farm machinery, and some badly cleaned up commuter studies...
quick painter of my attempt at DSG 1473, am going to redo this from scratch so any suggestions on how to improve it will be appreciated.
i'm thinking initially to make the tunnel as convincing as possible, first, and then work in the extra elements like the tree root and pipes/cables.
might experiment with it like this for a while first, maybe try different tunnel lengths and stuff.
...and of course redo the engine !
quick ds sketch, beach study I've posted in the crit centre, from ref - not sure if i'm done with it yet or not...been struggling with it
and a ship thing i did doodling in photoshop, there's too much wrong with it to mention but hey, it was fun !
quick env study, ref'd, was more interested in playing with photoshop stuff though so it got a bit sloppy.
couple more, ref'd. trying to get my head round photoshop. thinking about perspective...um...not so much in the second one as you can probably tell !
practising perspective, need to make an effort to learn this stuff.
out and about on the train.
more perspective stuff, working through an old book by William Powell...

Hey MrDigs. You seem to be my "kind of guy" with the models, sculptures and digital painting. And of course all the wacky faces...
I am not knocking your earlier work but your last digital work seem to be a real improvement - Bumskee's digital painting thread? I'll have to find that thread myself.
Great work, keep updating, I'll be keeping an eye on you.
