Yes, They annoy me.
No, They are fine
Im curious what everyone feels about the sketchbook titles that are filled with ascii and symbols to stretch them and make them more eye catching.
is this something you would like to see me address and prohibit or are you fine with how it is?
please answer the poll.
Nah, they're fine for me.

i personally think its fine, i think the freedom to do it or to not do it is a good thing. i would hate to see titles be regimented like the army or something.
i think it's not important, at the end it does matter what you find INSIDE the thread...so no one will look into a sketchbook furthermore if he saw crappy work in it...no matter how big or long or attracting its title is...
I'm for crazy sketchbook titles but the system has some problems. I assume there are some symbols that are causing errors in the system. (for example I received notification mails with strange titles from the same thread or lately I saw a thread with the page "2" button in the middle of the title).
they can be annoyin if anyone uses too many weird symbols, but like many of the smart people in here have already said, the freedom to use it or not use is whats important, so they should be allowed

damnit davi i thought you were going to make us all sketchbook titles for free. Fine be like that.
Actually it seems the shortest titles stand out the most now.
titles? hah! i look at stars and names first...

if everyone puts symbols and shiit in the title it just gets lost in all the other sketchbooks vying for attention...i look at a thread because of its rating...generally if it isnt 5 stars i wont click..
I don't like the pretentious titles, but they are recognizable. Even some of the big names here do it. I remember Mentler adding various... questionable adjectives to his SB title (which originally was something like "flesh") after each update.
Anyway, my biggest gripe with SBs has always been that I'd rather not run through a thread and find that none of the forty new posts are by the artist. I really appreciate sketchbooks that update their titles to indicate new material (like Mentler.)
I don't see them as an issue.
To me, it's kind of the same thing as someone drawing on the outside of their sketchbook. It help identify it as *yours* - not that we really are worried about someone walking off with our sketchthread here, but you follow what I mean.
It's just personalization, not something that needs to be a forbotten.
thats a good advice for ca noobs. I do the same. Most often, I don't even read the title because it won't tell me whats inside. However the starrating can be quite confusing because some of the interesting and good sketchbooks don't have any.Originally Posted by Main Loop
It is difficult finding the sketchbooks you are looking for, though a ctrl+f isn't. If you planned to do some reprogramming of the board the nicest thing would be a possibility to get threads highlighted (modification of the way subscribed threads are shown?).
OMG! INVISIBLE TEXT! ... and a future sketchbook will maybe be linked soon.
Highlighting your subscribed threads is a great idea.....out of the 15 or so sketch threads i subscribe to, i only remember the name of two of them. I never go into my user cp anyways, so if im in this section, it would be nice to see a highlight and think "oh yea....this thread kicks ass."
EDIT: I just noticed that next to my subscribed threads, in the ratings column, is a little blue checkmark....so....hooray for noticing things

i dont care about the titles, only that i've updated the "updated 06.12.06" but it isn't working. when i edit it, it edits in the edit box but the edit doesnt show up. so it looks like i haven't updated my thread in forever. but i updated it this morning..
