i like the idea of having a soldier hunched over in a trench like setting. it appears his head is extremely heavy and is crushing his chest cavity. if he were in full armor, i dont think he would have that kind of flexibility. his left arm looks like it is holding him up also. because of this action it is hard to tell if he is alive and trying to hold his body up or if he is a lifeless body decaying into he wasteland. the reaction between your character and the environment is minimal. it doesnt appear to be believable that he actually is sitting on the ground. your shadows are all over the place and dont seem to be casting from the same light source. read about radiosity, light and color theory in the fine arts, stud and discovery section.

I thought at first he was a headless knight...Kinjark's crit cleared that up...
-The shadows are just empty flat voids and are very distracting - you need to have some detail in there.
-You could do some real nice staging here with light .. its absolutely flat
-Your colors are very dull..except the purple knight - which is a curious choice for the armor
-the foliage is too similar and very "arranged"
best thing to do is go back and do a bunch of thumbnails to figure out the ligthing and value structure
