Playing around with colour - the yellow of the beak is actually grey, and most of the tortoise is as well (although that's more obvious).

Above image updated. Nice experiment in using background colour to make grey look like something else.
and sketches for IDW:
I think I'm going to take the drug release approach - drugs are provided intravenously to the user to put them into a heightened state of awareness and to negate the effects of air propelled drugs which reduce the strength and dexterity of those surrounding the user making attacks more prone to failure. Withdrawal symptoms generally cause death.
Update on IDW entry (NOTE: submission deadline has been moved to Friday!)
Drugs are provided intravenously to the user to put them into a heightened state of awareness and to negate the effects of air propelled drugs which reduce the strength and dexterity of those surrounding the user making attacks more prone to failure. Flip Industries' concoction of drugs are extremely addictive and most users don't survive the withdrawal symptoms, giving the company a stranglehold over the current power players.
Concept: Flip Industries, being the communist bastards that they are, have created a PSU to help keep 'their' leaders in good health. Arm attachments give the user some (limited) protection while heightening their senses through drugs provided intravenously. Air born drugs projected from the shoulders are used to dull the strength, dexterity and senses of those around the user. Even against a skilled attacker the PSU provides an unfair advantage. The cruel twist to this product is that in order to keep control over their leaders Flip Industries has made the intravenous concoction highly addictive; withdrawal symptoms generally causing death in the user or leaving them in a 'damaged' state.

hmm i don´t wanna sound rude but i want to help... when i look at your thread i would honestly, whithout better knoiwing of anatomy , whithout good line quality, why do u practice colouring? you have some funny ideas up in here but whithout good knowledge, u can never make your work believable , so take a a loomis or hogarth book , whatever and get ur ass on tha drawingtable!
Ha haaaahahahahah haha
some funny stuff in here.
ditto on what Goblinshark said in a way though.
(have the same problem though too )
Thanks for all the comments.
GOBLINSHARK, Wow. Thanks for the crits, I've been somewhat aware of my lack of knowledge in anatomy, but have had a tendency to fudge it. Your comments have made me sit up and seriously look at it. Thanks!
Here's some hand studies from Hogarth, to get the anatomy ball rolling.

Steampunk Submersible concept: This submersible, designed by Captain Wang and first mate Johnson, has been highly successful in ploughing the depths of the ocean.
sorry dude but this submersible is more looking like it has discovered the depths of the vagina .
but the faces gonna look better now. keep it up
i agree with all of GOBLINSHARK's commntents, especially on the last one
nice job with the hogart studies, but work on the head's basic costruction before going into detail.Good job with industrial design pics too.
btw, are you italian?
Thanks for the comments guys!
TheGnoll > No, lo parlo, e ho studiato a Milano l'anno scorso, ma sono australiano. Non ho saputo che ci sono italiani su questi 'forum'. Sei italiano? Ho visitato il tuo 'sketchbook' e parli inglese bene.
Update to my phallic submersible:
This submersible, designed by Captain Wang and first mate Johnson, has been highly successful in ploughing the depths of the ocean. The ship is kept in good condition by a team of engineers - Mrs. Palmers and her 5 daughters. The sack at the base of the ship works much like a standard pair of bellows and is used for propulsion - in general vigourous movement of the sack results in the ship rising, when left alone, the ship goes down. The submersible is believed to dock in an underwater cavern in the vicinity of the island of Clitoris, which many believe to be a myth.
Phallus II is complete:

arttorney > Thanks man.
Here's some poses from life drawing last night where my proportions seemed to be all over the place (particularly in the 1min poses which I haven't shown). The first 2 pages are 3min, pen and/or mech. pencil just on bank, the last 3 are 6min, mech pencil on bristol (that stuff sure is nice to work on).
and a 3CH WIP.

I like the chow 33 entry. Lot of 'tude and a sail for a collar!! Nice hand and leg studies, I love working from Hogarth's books as well. Love to see more painted stuff and your work process!!
Chiko, silvestri99 > Thanks, I was pretty pleased with the design of that guy, sufficiently "out there".
First, update for 3CH, then lifedrawings (pen - 1 and 2 min poses, pacer - 5 and 15 min - sorry, think I went overboard on the compression), and a zombie sp i did for a halloween invite.
Major Project shite. This is what I've been working on this semester, a vehicle designed around some crazy doors to make it easy for old(er) people to get in and out. So here's some sketches as well as a WIP of a 'hero' image (maybe). The WIP is done similar to Aleksi's demo in Prague - cutting, pasting, transforming, etc photos (that I've taken), with a bit of painting and a solidworks screen capture currently for the vehicle. I'm not sure whether I'll paint the car, do a nice render in solidworks or a combo.
And the transparent rectangles mark where I'm planning on clipping it.
More stuff from my project. Profile and elevation views (PS using Alias screen captures), spent a lot of today and yesterday on them, need to work out a couple more things - lights, handles, etc.
