This tree makes me want to go burn some coal. nice work-->but i would like to see a little bit more detail in the close up branch.
Thanks for the assist, bud! I'll give it a vit more love...I romise!
Here's some 1 min. quick studies from last Saturday's figure drawing session. I'll have to scan the 2 and 5 minute studies later.
Some Kick Ass Quick Figure Studies <> Great Form And Energy

Ben! My butt hurts...you can stop grabbin' it now. Got my Christmas goose early. Thanks man!
Thank you, Tensai! It's a work in progress.....
hey joel - i think that book is anthony ryder's "the artist's complete guide to figure drawing" - grrrreat book!
here's something i worked on today for a medical legal case on an abdominal aortic aneurysm (shown it section with the front of the vessel wall off) - it will be in color for final, but there isn't any point in going that full distance when changes will likely occur. this is about 6 hours start to this point. it isn't done.
you have some crazy-ass rendering skills man. the sea scorpion and the woodcut armored fish are excellenté
thanks b! i'm going to dive into your sb right now and see what you got goin' on.
these repeated projects of uncertain length really help me with my rendering and challenging my abilities. learning all the time!
Like Michael said, lol ! This evolution stuff start to be agreat body of work to contemplate.
Cheers, amigo !
Reddybaby: I enjoyed those figure studies... Albeit, some may be a tad obvious where your focus was (read: study of shaved outer labia with legs spread )
... Not that there is anything wrong with that
lol. i had no idea my focus was there, bud.
hmmm....i know i was focusing on the torso, but now i feel naughty. lol!
mentler - level 14 - wazzat? did i miss an inside joke. i'm so cornfuzzed.
julien - thanks man! this stuff is really going to kick my ass. the deadline has ramped up and that means less time per figure. sheeeeit.
that said, here's an insect - kinda like a silverfish. about 2 hours with research included. it's not in a dynamic pose....i'm going to try and do that for the two amphibians i'm doing next.
on to the amphibians!
thanks ben! getting stars is extra special to me.
the next one is a rare new find called Tiktaalik roseae.
this outta be fun!
if it looks like i just flipped the previous drawing and tweaked it to have the scales and other modifications, then you're 100% correct. why waste the time reinventing the entire body, eh?
I was wrapped up in several other projects today. I got this one done and conferred with my client if the critter should have scales or fur or both. I'm leaving it up to him to choose.
BTW, this little fella was a burrower like the modern day gopher. Pretty small too.
you friggin wild man you. sterling work dave...simply sterling. You got me saying everything twice...shit..next come the stutters...FUCK!
Wwwwoonderfulll ssshtuff bro...
tooooooofreakin cool dave... keep it up!
this guy, should your client decide upon him, needs just a little more contrast and values put into the fur..compared to the insanely textured amphibian skin this guy doesn't look quite as cool.
just a thought. thanks for the book tip-->i'm totally going to order it.
Thanks guys! It's a tough, but rewarding, project.
And Joel, I did get the big thumbs up for the furry version. Spent 10 minutes or so adding a bit more contrast/values to the fur. Thanks for the assist!
Thanks Ben. Hmmm....a poster. May consider that in the long run.
I'll keep you posted!
This one is kickin' my ass. They're getting tougher. I probably have another hour on this one...
two things on this last one to work on: the left shoulder and the chin. other than those spots, the structure looks good, you just need to work your rendering magic.
Dave, man ! I really like this evolution stuff pic after pic. Keep posting.
B- thanks for the tips! I'll give that a good look into on Monday! Rendering magic....ha! Good one, bud.
J- thanks too! Since we're both doing the tdome, is it ok to wait on the hurridome? We'll do it, but perhaps later rather than sooner.
Yeah I was thinking the same ! It could wait a little... But it's really something we have to do, one day. Could be after round one in my case, lol ! I think Pete [aka Summer Puding] can kick my ass, lol !
Cheers, Dave !
good deal bud!
yeah, i'm toast after rnd 1 too - i've got flaptraps! hah!
