...sailors die. That's supposed to be the main theme here, and I hope I'll do it justice. I just started working on this piece for a mass art trade, and the theme is sirens.
I want the mood to be a bit "nightmarish" yet pleasant at the same time. The deadline is tomorrow so I better get back to painting. I'll post the progress here. Crits very much appreciated.

I think it is a cool idea. But if it were me, maybe I would go with something more suggestive, and not so up front (I.E. the siren strangling the sailor against the mast). The sailor in the foreground with his (soul?) being pulled out of him is really cool though. If you want to go with the "when sirens sing..." theme, maybe it might be something to think about to have the sirens seducing the men so to speak, luring them out to a watery grave. I think that in the second picture posted there with the sailor blacked out looks really cool, and maybe have the sirens leading the sailors` souls away from their bodies and the sailors reaching out for them.. or something like that, I am just tossing ideas out there. That is just my two cents though.

Sepulverte: Thanks for the c&c!
I wanted my sirens to be a bit more vicious than they are normally portrayed, but I absolutely love your idea about having the sirens leading the souls away from the sailprs' bodies! You sir, are a genius. I just have to try this
Glad I could be of help.
Hope this is a w.i.p. , looking forward to the end result, nice progress so far
