i started off with the shadows with like a, greeney orangey grey colour, then built up colours then. i neglected to add that i have only a selection of colours, mostly just the basic, sooo im just using what i have. thanks for the info though, i didnt know about the fast for wet on wet, and layers slowly, i think i was doing wet on wet too slowly if that makes sense hehe. i think ill try to finish this, not right now though, but i dont really have good media to use, the quality of the paints and brushes i have atm arent very good, as ive never needed a good quality before now, ive only every really used paint recently in a block fashion for a vector sort of look, so the quality wasnt as important. i think maybe i should invest in a nice set of oils or something, and some nice brushes
cheap stuff is good to experiment with and I basically use a limited palette of titanium white, yellow ochre, cad red, ultramarine blue, burnt umber, burnt sienna, and ivory black. I use this palette for both acrylics and oils, though I don't use the acrylic much anymore. Recently started playing around with soft pastels, its great but a bit messy
EDIT: forgot to mention I usually do a underpainting using burnt umber, sometimes it just to show where things are and sometimes it is pretty detailed with tonal rendering.
Yeah that is really awesome Fran! Kinda makes me think of a holiday advert or something. Really nice graphic quality. I think its fugging awesome .. ^_^
Love the vibrant red in the last one. Although her left hand looks alittle funky, and her right arm is slightly too long.
Keep it up.
Rocking, damn you and your really nice gestures!! i still have a lot of difficulty nailing interesting poses i'm happy with. A few proportion problems that aren't really important compared to the power of the image. You are developing a very nice style magic fran. My only problem with that image is the rectangle beneath her, needs a bit more explaining visually.
That painting is looking tops!
Great progress miss magic.
wakazou: haha, sure thing?
factorzero: thanks =]
aph: glad you like it, thanks
Lee: cheers, hopefully ill break some out for this project soon
koala.one: yeah i agree kinda messed up with those bits, and thanks =]
miss josh: yeah i agree about the rectangle, i guess i forgot that i hadthat there, i should have done something else to it, and thankyou, keep the magic alive
naomi: thanks, yeah i hope so, looking forward to it and yup ill see you tomorrow
little cartoon of my friend ffion- she's like a self proclaimed footballers wife hehe, and it was her suggestion for the wheel for some reason hehe

Lee: haha yeah oops missed that bit out
fishspawn: cheers, yeah i need to do some more, but ive got a lot of college art work to do atm, i will get round to some though hopefully, possiblility of a life drawing class in my town has presented itself so ill get some done in the near future with a bit of luck =]
small update, i have some other stuff to scan but not got round to it
part of my art college is on disguise, im gonna go down the superhero route, but im looking at disguise with makeup after looking at certain artists, cindy sherman, yasumasa morimura (sp?), and an americas next top model photo shoot where they were painted to look like animals, so im doing some makeup disguise
heres some pics of me , i painted it myself
i have some other work, but not with me, so ill scan that tomorrow perhaps and upload then
That's brilliant, wicked face painting, hard to tell it's you! spot on with the eyes too!
roosketch: thanks =D
Lee: probably not actually, theres so many weird people in college with me haha
wake101: thanks, would have been funny if i did but i washed it off after =(
Factorzero: cheers =] i have a small update here
[Excuse] I havent updated in ages because i really dont have that much to update, ive been busy with essays, and research and presentation for my art exam prep work, but i do have a little bit to update. this week and next week i hope to get a lot more done, my graphics tablet is in the post , so ill try some speed paints etc =] [/excuse]
sketch- the proportions are horribleee, ive flattened the side of her face and made her head to skinny i think. plus the hair is bad, its kind of hard drawing crimped hair
mock up for a final design
quick superhero doodle (hence the hands lol) of a friend as fire girl ( inventive name i know haha)
and then had a little photoshoot with friends for my project, i painted their faces to be superheroes, fire boy and ice girl so heres a selection of the pics
the white on his face smudged a little bit
i intend on drawing them with fire or ice in their hands hence the hands out hehe
ill update soon
hey...that leopard face paint looks really great, very nice.Artwise, the has been a huge improvement in almost everything, but you still need to keep workig on the anatomy...on the other hand, you've got very good graphic design skills.
Hope you don't mind if i use your firends pictures as reference myself
the gnoll: thanks =] of course not your welcome to use them, i have a lot more if theres anything in particular you wanted
miss B: thanks =] i hope so too, i have to finish it some time soon eep
