I have a couple of questions to ask to the pros working in video game industry or advertising, and since Massive black is linked to this site, I thought it would be the best place to ask.
- are you working with musicians ?
- if yes, are these musicians freelance, or are they part of a "music studio" organised like studios for visual conception ?
- what are the main qualities of a musician making games soundtrack or advertising ?
I hope the subject hasn't been already asked before.

I was always wondering that, too. I know that certain companies, like Nintendo, has inhouse composers. But I was never sure about the actual orchestra / band and so forth.

ive seen alot of people that used to be in 80's bands go into the video game and movie music industry. Like danny elfman. There is many more but i cant remeber them off hand. Most are from those disco sounding bands like Banarama with all the sinths.
Just a wild guess.
Some developers have probably in-house teams (that work with all the other people), some work in an outsourcing studio (comparable to MB) and some are freelancer. I don't think that it's much different than in the art department (but most probably smaller than the concept/modeling/animation/whatever there is team).
