hello, my name is michelle. i'm planning on sending in my portfolio next month to ringling and would like to work on it heavily within that time. any critique would be awesome, and i am looking for anything I should improve.
most of these are from life, few from reference. thanks in advance!
I love the apples. And I love the big portrait! Those baggy pants sketches are great too, and the girl in color. Love it all I guess. But there can always be improvement. One thing I'm noticing is it appears that you use a very dull pencil. Sometimes to me that kills those contours that help make a piece pop in and out.
nice drawings michelle!
i am not the biggest pro, but i anyway try to help you improving:
the pencil drawings might be improved, if you start with guidelines.
do not start with details, they will only disturb you! start with simple gesturelines, then draw the stuff you want to draw by blocking it and at last you add the details! you can also improve your shading skills by trying to hold your pencil different than the usual attitude.
I'm enjoying seeing your stuff here. Particularly your portraits, on your last post, the first portrait is very cool. The only thing I would like to critique is that the light source is unclear, and your line weight is fairly equal among all the features of his face, I would like to see some more confidence in your line. Hope I'm making sense. Keep it up!
